1st Lieutenant Ken Friedman

Citizen Soldier,

Thank you for visiting the web site of the 2nd NJ Volunteer Infantry. In it's pages and links you will be given an overview of the hobby of Civil War reenacting.

From 1861-1865 our country divided itself among blue and gray. As you participate in reenactments and living histories, you will gain insight into what it must have been like so many years ago. In the 2nd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry, we try to portray as closely as possible a day in the life of a Civil War soldier. That day may be viewed in a public living history where we educate the public on an up close and personal demonstration, or our unit may recieve orders to deploy for battle in a reenactment. As such you would experience the thrill and terror of the battlefield.

All in all, serving with the 2nd NJ Volunteers will put you closer to that unfathomable period in time that turned the page in history and made us the United States that we are today.

In the 2nd New Jersey, you will receive the knowledge and proper instruction needed to serve as a soldier. As reenactors in the Army of the Potomac, we are attached to the 6th Company, 3rd Battalion - United States Volunteers. In it's ranks you will experience the excitement of battle, tranquility of camping and lasting memories as you serve with other men in the rank and file.

Please take your time and review the information provided in the pages of this website. Please contact us with any questions that you may have.

God bless America.
