And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of
life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7

and the rocks rent; Matthew 27:51..

Rocks can be broken to pieces.
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by,
and a great strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the
LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind and earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
  1 Kings 19:11..
Hurricanes can trigger earthquakes.

Rocks can be worn away by water.
Watris maken stoonys holowe, and the erthe is wastid litil and litil by waischyng a wey of watir. Job
   14:19..Wycliffe.
.It takes time for water to wear away rock..Weathering, Erosion.

The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and
thou destroyest the hope of man. Job 14:19..
Abrasion, Erosion, Chemical erosion, Transportation.

Rocks can be worn away by abrasive dust laden wind.
And Y schal al to-breke hem, as dust bifor the face of wynd; Y schal do hem awaei, as the cley of
  stretis. Psalm 17:43

Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.
  Psalm 18:42

  Some rocks contain water.
He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river. Psalm 105:41

Rocks can be beaten to dust.
By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when
he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and the images
shall not stand up. Isaiah 27:9

  creatures, and plants, are broken down into vapour..Psalm 37:20..and dust..Genesis 3:19..Job 34:15..
  by weathering..Job 14:19..Job 28:10..Ezekiel 31:12..Isaiah 41:2..Job 30:22..Nahum 1:3..and by
worms
(microorgansims) in the soil. Job 21:26

Over billions of years, the rock that was the earth was continually broken down, and worn away, by
the abrasive forces of moving wind, water and ice, and the rock became particles of rock, and dust, and
soil, as falling vegetation, and people, animals, birds, and creatures,
died, (fell to the ground), and were
churned into the earth by the actions of microorganisms, heat, cold, wind, and flowing water.

Soil is made up of particles of worn down rock, decaying vegetation, microorganisms, water, and air.
