Tire Truing The Right Way
By Steve  Carfi
Read below and practice this method you will become a faster racer!
So many times we  hear how do you true tires?
Well here is the best way that I have found to do just that task!
The way I will describe will allow you to always realign your tires if your wheel happens to come lose or spins on it's axle simply by lining up any of the two colored marks on the wheels.
Many racers simply sand there tires without marking them or gluing them in place.

THIS SIMPLY DON'T WORK!

WHY YOU ASK?
If after you true your tires your rubber tire slips and rotates on the wheel or your wheel comes off or spins on the axle you will not have any way of telling where they where positioned when you first trued them and  the result will be a untrue wheel tire again........NOT  GOOD...
In the photo above you can see how I mark glue my tires before I true them...You can do this when the wheel is on most cars but you can take the wheels off if you wish to.
First i use super glue and lift  the tire edge up off wheel a little next i use a tooth pick  with a tiny drop of super glue then i apply it to wheel  and next let tire set back onto the wheel
and glue in place..(
some wheels have chrome you can scrape it off where you need to glue by using an exacto blade because super glue  don't stick to chromed wheels)  Do this to all red marks  in all positions shown above on the both rear tires!
If worried about saving your wheel only put two drops of super glue across from each other.
Second I use paint and mark  the wheel as shown in the top photo. I use two different colors and start  painting from wheel edge right out to the tires sidewall.  this should be done exactly like in the photo above!
(I like using pactra lacquer  paints for R/C it works great!)

Tires should be  put on  with same paint colors lined up to each other. For my example above  white lined up perfectly to white or blue to blue before you start sanding  tires!
Here's a photo of my sanding station!
simply a  powered track section with end connectors cut off!
Next  Truing tires!
Hold sand paper in place like  above so it lies flat to table surface!

With a  powered up track section and a piece of sand paper
Your ready to go! (I like using emery cloth for truing tires)
To do this simply set your track on a  flat surface like shown above and place sand paper under track section like in photo. Now to do it right make sure when your car is positioned like  above the wheels are rotating backwards this make sanding tires much easier!
Next gently hit both tires flat to the sand paper and every  ten
seconds or so lift car and if the tires are worm let them cool and
repeat this process until your tires run true..
When sanding you can swing the rear of the car 3/4 of
a inch or so left to right to sand faster making sure car
is flat to surface...after i use this method tires are just
about true I then  finish by holding the car flat to the surface
of the sand paper and  straight without movement this
squares and levels tires up nice evenly.
WATCH YOUR MOTOR TEMPERATURE!!
KEEP  IT COOL!

Now test if tires are true by
simply rolling the rear tires across your flat table top.  If you don't feel any wobble in the rear you're set, but if your rear wobbles go back and true a little more  until the rear doesn't wobble when rolled across the flat table surface!
Job Finished, now go true away!!
You won't believe how much better faster your  cars will run!
