Nancy K. Ferrell,
Ph.D.
Dr. Ferrell has been a Training Consultant since 1980.
She is president and owner of Professional Services & Education (PS&E)
and earned a Ph.D. in Adult and Continuing Education from Texas A&M in
Commerce, Texas in December 1994.
Ferrell conducts Basic Mediation Training,
Family Court Mediation Training, For Kids' Sake Seminars, and Conflict Happens Seminars.
Dr. Ferrell is a contract mediator for the U. S. Postal
Service, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Texas Department
of Corrections. She conducts private mediation in the areas of family,
civil, business, church, and employment disputes. Ferrell is available
for training needs assessments and consultation on conflict resolution
strategies.

Mediator and Trainer in Private Practice
Dr. Ferrell has used her mediation skills to settle disputes
ranging from personal property settlements and child custody cases to community
conflict over corporate restructuring and civil rights violations. She has
worked with corporations to establish mediation as a component of their employee
grievance procedures. Ferrell has settled over 800 mediations during her
15 year career in conflict resolution.
As a training consultant, Dr. Ferrell has designed and
conducted training in the areas of Conflict Management, Mediation, Time
Management, Communication Skills, and Dynamics of Quality Decision Making.
She has developed customized training based on needs assessments with credit
unions, religious groups, small businesses, and major corporations like Arthur
Anderson and Weyerhaeuser.
Ferrell is currently offering two 4 hour seminars in the
Dallas, TX area. One is For Kids'
Sake, which is designed to help parents gain insight into the needs
of their children during the transitions that result in tension and conflict
within the family, like divorce, economic struggles, health crises. The
second seminar is Conflict Happens. It
is designed to help individuals gain insight into their conflict styles,
the negative and positive aspects of conflict, and skills to manage conflict
to reach mutual goals. Courses in Conflict Resolution and Mediation are
also being offered through the continuing education program of Eastfield
College in Dallas, TX.
Mediator and
Trainer with U. S. Department of Justice
During her 10 years (9/85 - 9/95) as an employee with the
U. S. Department of Justice, Community Relations Service, Ferrell was a major
contributor to the design, development and delivery of training materials
for the agency dealing with "Preventing and Responding to Violence" and "Theory
and Practice of Community Conflict Resolution." Ferrell conducted mediation
cases based on civil rights issues: employment, housing, access to resources,
police excessive use of forces, and general community relations. Ferrell
was a member of the Agency's Staff Development Faculty and has participated
in the development of policies and procedures, case activity program models,
and the design and delivery of training programs for use throughout the Agency.
