| Chapter Four |
| "...Begging for a second chance, are you gonna let me in..." The next day, I went back to the diner, where she worked, she was there, and I HAD to talk to her. She came to my table, "Now what?" "Shaye I HAVE to talk to you," "I'm a little busy," I looked around, two other tables were full, but they had already been served. "C'mon Shaye, please," "Why?" "Because, I have to find out what's bothering you," "I already told you," "No, I want the truth," "I can't just stop what I'm doing," "It'll only take a few minuets," "Fine, lemme see if I can take my break," "Thank you," She nodded and walked to her supervisor, I saw her nod, as Shaye walked back to me. "I have 15 minuets, talk," "Not in here, can you go outside with me?" "Yeah, sure," She stood up and grabbed her jacket, walking behind me outside. "Look, this is hard for me, okay," "Well, why is it so important?" "I still love you, and I want a second chance, please," "That's it? You want a second chance?" "Yes, and I wanna meet our daughter," "Why? Why now?" "Does she have my name?" She nodded, "Than she's just as much mine, as she is yours," "Do you have any idea, how HARD things have been?" "Yes! I went through the same break-up you did," "No, I mean, raising two children, with minimum wage?" "No, I don't," "J. I was nine months pregnant, working in this diner, on my feet ALL day long, going home, to a three year old, not getting to stop until nine and ten o'clock." "I wish I could have been there. I miss you, and I love you, please, give me another chance," "It's not that easy," "Yes it is! I wanna make-up these past three years to you," "Justin-" "Shaye please," "Do you really love me?" "Yes! What do I gotta do to prove it to you?" "Give me a few days, I have to think," "How many days?" "I dunno," "Shaye, please, look at me," I caressed her cheek, "I've been so lost without you," "Don't do this to me," "Do what?" "MAGGIE! BREAKS OVER!" "I gotta go," "No, no, don't walk away from me," I said grabbing her arm. "Let go of me," She said, tears streaming down her face, as she walked back inside. I watched after her, hoping she'd turn around..... |
