Dinner Conversation | ||||||
We sit to eat, but conversation is on the menu; catching up on years past. I am hungry, but the food does not satisfy. I yearn to know more of you - to know you more. It is a wonder that I can eat at all - the butterflies occupy en masse. The years have been good to you; You are more radiant now than ever. My heart beats so loudly that I have to talk just to mask the sound It's almost hard to hear you over the drumming in my chest... ...but I hang on to your every word and I wonder: Will there be dessert? |
