Newport News Police Explorers 1986-1990
Hello my name is Sergeant Marc Huckless, and I am a police sergeant with Old Dominion University. Before I became a police sergeant I was with the Newport News Police Explorers Post. After completing the program I became a state university police officer. The Law Enforcement Explorers is a program designed to get teenagers interested in pursuing careers in law enforcement. The program is a sub division of the Boy Scouts of America. In this program youths are given the basic knowledge of law enforcement skills through ride alongs with the police and basic classroom instruction. After the youth completes this program and graduates from high school they are encurraged to attend college and apply to area police departments.
