The second annual membership reception was held at Hops-Longwood on 7/26, at 6:30pm in the private room. Mr. Tom Messina, Director of UCF Alumni Relations, Mr. Rich Crotty, Orange County Chairman, and seven new alumni members were inducted into OGKAC.
Officers met and collected nominees for the 2001-2002 officer elections at the Olive Garden restaurant.
Elections were held on 9/20/01 at the Olive Garden restaurant (17-92 & Lee Rd.) at 6:30pm. Click on the Chapter Officers link for results. New officers talked about the upcoming year and transitioned officers' roles. New date and location were selected for future chapter meetings. OGKAC will meet the second Tuesdays of every month starting October 2001.
The new officers met at the Samba Room on 10/9/01. A schedule of future meetings and social events was discussed. It was decided to hold our business meetings on the dates and locations listed
below. The regular monthly meeting will be held on the third Tuesday of the month starting in January. We would also like to hold four social events during the year.
November - Business Meeting - Tuesday, November 6th at 6:00 p.m. at The
Samba Room on Sand Lake Road (best location for any members in the southern
part of town). We will be making plans for the December party.
December - Social Event - Saturday, December 1st at 6pm at Applebee's on
University, near UCF. This will be the Annual Holiday social event.
January - Business Meeting - Tuesday, January 16th at 6:00 p.m. at
Applebee's near UCF (best location for any members in the eastern part of
town).
February - Business Meeting - Tuesday, February 20th at 6:00 p.m. at Gina's
On the Water in Altamonte Springs (best location for any members in the
northern part of town.) We will be making plans for an
event duringthe Regional Golden Key Conference to be held in March.
March - Social Event - Golden Key Conference - Date, time, and location to be determined.
April - Business Meeting - Tuesday, April 17th at 6:00 p.m. at a downtown
location near I-4 and 50 to be determined (best location for any members in
the central part of Orlando) We will be planning for the Membership
Reception to be held in May.
May - Social Event - Date, time, and location to be determined.
June - Business Meeting - Tuesday, June 19th at 6:00 p.m. at The Cheese Cake
Factory in Winter Park Village.
July - Business Meeting - Tuesday, July 17th at 6:00 p.m. at The Cheese Cake
Factory in Winter Park Village.
August - Business Meeting - Tuesday, August 21st at 6:00 p.m. at a location to
be determined
September - Social Event - Fall Gathering- Date, time, and location to be determined.
Other business discussed: Linh will be working on obtaining an updated
database of new members in the Orlando area and updating our web site.
Andrea will be working on the newsletter update.
Officers met at the Samba Room on 11/9 to discuss the following items:
1) New mail address (See Contact Us)
2) December Holiday Party details ("Holiday Graduation Party" theme)
3) Open Treasurer position (Nominations are being accepted)
This year's holiday event was held at the Applebee's on University/Alafaya Trail near UCF on 12/1 at 6pm. Although there was a small turnout, additional contacts were made with Departments at UCF.
