Course Of Fire
"1500 Match"
The 1500 match may seem a little long to some of you - it does take about 45 minutes -, but 150 rounds are fired through the course of the match. Each match is broken down into 5 stages, which are also called matches. Each "match" within the 1500 is fired from a different distance and under different time limits.
Revolvers and Semi-Auto's are used, but no more than 6 rounds of ammo is permitted in the gun at one time. If the course of fire calls for 12 rounds, 6 shots are fired, unload then reload and fire the next 6 rounds. All of the times include time for reloading. It takes a minimum of 3 speedloaders or magazines, but a minimum of 4 is strongly recommended!!! So, without confusing you any more, here is the course of fire.
MATCH 1
Fired from the 7 yard line, 12 rounds in 20 seconds, two handed grip unsupported.
Fired from the 15 yard line, 12 rounds in 20 seconds, two handed grip unsupported.
MATCH 2
Fired from the 25 yard line, 18 rounds in 90 seconds. 6 rounds kneeling unsupported, 6 rounds standing left-handed from behind the barricade, and 6 rounds standing right-handed from behind the barricade.
NOTE: Anytime you are shooting from behind a barricade, you must use the barricade for support and cover.
MATCH 3
Here is where you learn what you are made of. :)
Fired from the 50 yard line, 24 rounds fired in 2 minutes 45 seconds. 6 rounds sitting, 6 rounds prone, 6 rounds standing left from behind the barricade, and 6 rounds standing right from behind the barricade. (Use the barricade for cover and support.)
MATCH 4
Fired from the 25 yard line, 24 rounds fired in two stages of 12 rounds in 35 seconds each. All standing unsupported.
MATCH 5A
Fired from the 7 yard line, 12 rounds in 20 seconds, standing two handed grip unsupported.
Fired from the 25 yard line, 18 rounds in 90 seconds, 6 kneeling unsupported, six standing left-handed from behind the barricade, and 6 standing right-handed from behind the barricade. Again, the barricade must be used for cover and support.
MATCH 5B
Fired from the 50 yard line, 24 rounds in 2 minutes 45 seconds. 6 rounds sitting, 6 rounds prone, 6 rounds standing left-handed from behind the barricade, and 6 rounds standing right-handed from behind the barricade. ( You guessed it, the barricade must be used for cover and support.)
Fired from the 25 yard line, 6 rounds in 12 seconds. Standing two-handed grip unsupported.
That is all there is to it! One final note on this, ALL positions are to be fired with a two-handed grip. In the prone position at the 50 yard line, the gun cannot rest on the ground. (OK, that was two final notes, what can I say!)

"Duty Match"
The Duty match is much shorter and is intended for you to use the weapon you would carry on duty. This gun must be an "out of the box" gun. You can smooth out the trigger action and add adjustable sights, but that is all you can do to the gun.
Enough about that. Here is the course of fire for the duty match.
MATCH 1
Fired from the 3 yard line, 6 rounds in 8 seconds. One handed grip unsupported. From this stage and this stage only, you may start with your hand on the gun while it is still holstered.
Fired from the 7 yard line, 12 rounds in 20 seconds. Two handed grip unsupported.
MATCH 2
Fired from the 15 yard line, 12 rounds in 20 seconds. Two handed grip unsupported.
Fired from the 25 yard line, 18 rounds in 90 seconds. 6 rounds kneeling from behind the barricade, 6 rounds standing left-handed from behind the barricade, and 6 rounds standing right from behind the barricade. The barricade MUST be used for cover and support!!!
That wasn't so bad was it? A total of 48 rounds is fired and it takes less than 15 minutes.
