If you plan to breastfeed successfully and don't want to feel "tied down," browse through these links. Let me know which patterns or brands are best and I'll publish comments for others to see. My personal favorite is the Maya Wrap. It is made from 100% cotton, is comfortable and breathable, and at 14 months old, my baby loves to ride on my back in her sling. She has loved riding in her sling from birth and even feels heavier when I carry her without her sling.

Cloth Diapers Ever worry about what all those changes will do to the environment? An estimated 680 million disposable diapers are used in Michagan every year. In addition, studies have shown that chemicals used in most disposables today can cause asthma, toxic shock syndrome, severe allergies, and newer studies are linking low sperm count in adulthood with plastic-lined diapers! When our children ask why we didn't use cloth diapers, what will you say?
HURRY! The National Vaccine Information Center needs your help. Laws are coming before congress regarding your rights. Do you want law makers choosing which vaccines your child receives? Send a donation (even just $15) to 221 Lawyers Road, Vienna, VA 22180 or click here.

Birthing Stools Why use a birthing stool? According to The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth, studies found that while giving birth "women liked the upright position and experienced less pain. One study found less genital injury (to the mother). Two found that upright positioning shortened pushing phase and one that it resulted in fewer instrumental deliveries (where forceps or vaccum extraction are used)," even in first-time mothers! Convinced? Check out the stools below. If you know of a website that sells birth stools, let me know and I will add them here.
Coming from Australia, the BirthRite birthing stools (seen at left) are priced at $975 plus shipping. A padded carrying pouch is $85. (This site shows really neat birthing videos online.)

This birthing rocker comes with a stool for the midwife and costs $475 plus shipping, an excellent price for a well-made rocker. The wood birth stool is a competitive $75 plus shipping. This company also states they can custom-make furniture as well.
Cloth diaper tips from www.preciouscargo-natural babysupplies.com Before using new cloth diapers, wash them 5 times in hot water with vinegar and borax. This makes them more absorbent. You can also try 1/2 cup herbal vinegar with either tea tree, lavender or sweet orange essential oils to give them a fresh smell.
