Moments after finishing a solo circumnavigation of british Columbia's Vancouver Island and shattering the solo speed record by 4 and a half days. final time was 23 days and 10 hours....with a Greenland Paddle!
I currently have nuerous Greenland paddles under consturction. Built owestern red cedar and other select pieces of wood, I offer paddles between 210cm and 225 cm. in length. My paddles are similar in design to the one I used in 2007 for my record shattering circumnavigation of British Columbia's Vancouver Island enroute to smashing the solo speed record by 4 and a half days, finishing in 23 days and 10 hours. I design my paddles to be lightwieght with just the right amount of flex but enough stiffness for a high cruising speed and good acceleration. Nicely shaped tips for a comfortable hand postion for extended paddle strokes and for rolling, these tips also enter the water nicely due to their thin ends and rounded edges, making for a fast, efficient forward stroke. Right now I have some beautiful laminted paddles available in the 215 to 220 cm range and they are going for $175.00 each. I also have a pair of used Greenland Paddles, asking price is $125.00 each. Beginning January 1st, there will be a price increase to $225.00 form the current price of $175.00. Additional options such as hardwood tips, 2-pc construction etc will be available for an additional charge. On Saturday May 10th, I started the long process of carving out a partial half paddle which, once done properly, will be used as a plug for constructing a set of molds that will be used for building high end carbon fiber Greenland paddles. More information on this project will be posted over the coming weeks.

Some advantages of the Greenland Paddle are: More comfortable hand position and beter control of blade angle. Unfeathered design with no "Front side or back side". Long, narrow blades are practically unaffected by wind (no need to be feathered). Comfortable hand postion along the ends of the padd for extended paddle position. Easiest paddles in the world for rolling your kayak. Being very efficient at speed, my heart rate at a set cruising speed is roughly 10-15 beats lower than with anhy other style of paddle. Easily customized to the individual's needs. Sized for overall length, loom length, blade width etc. No two are the same, every paddle is a unique, one of a kind creation. Lightweight designs. Various finishing options including several different stains, oil finishes, varnish etc.
