| The shield in the middle of the emblem is that of the Union of the Seven Provinces. The lion holds a sword and seven arrows symbolising the seven provinces. The little shields, starting from the top on the right side, are the shields of Holland, followed by Utrecht and Overijssel. On the left, from the top, are the shields of Gelderland, Zeeland and Friesland. On the bottom in the middle is the shield of Groningen. The crown on top is a king's crown. |
