Two Pallottine sisters, Sr. Bernadita and Sr.
Elizabeth, work directly with the Renewal Center. Several others
live at the Center while working for the Pallottine order and in our
community.
Sr. Gail Borgmeyer
was born in St. Charles but grew up in West Virginia. She
currently serves as Provincial for the Pallottine Sisters in the
United States.
Sr. Bernadita Peterson grew up on a farm in
central Illinois. She was the long-time director of the Renewal
Center, but for health reasons she is now serving as director
emeritus, assisting as needed and making sure her flowers and the
grounds are well cared for.
Sr. Elizabeth Monsanto grew up in Belize. She
is the current PRC director, which involves leading the day-to-day
activities of the Center as well as working with fundraising
efforts. In addition, she
oversees food preparation for Pallottine's renowned meals -- and
directs both the high school retreats and the very popular days of
re-creation for senior citizens..
Sr. Lisa Wiese grew up in Florissant, just
across Old Halls Ferry from the Center. She has taught art at St.
John the Baptist High School and at Bishop Healey, both in St.
Louis. She now teaches art classes in her studio at Pallottine,
where she also creates some
great pottery for liturgical and home use.
Sr. Lena May grew up in Kentucky and is a
Wildcats fan. She has been teaching Spanish at DuBourg High School
but was recently appointed vocation director for the sisters.
News - Past and Present
A Chapter meeting for our sisters in the United
States was held at the Pallottine Renewal Center on June 4-6,
2004. During this time, we updated those rules that are
specific for the U.S. and elected our new province
administration. Sr. Gail Borgmeyer is provincial; Sr. Diane
Busker, vice provincial, and Sisters Mary Grace Barile, Karen
Lester and Barbara Jakschik, counsellors.
On July 19-23, 2004, the Florissant retreat house
hosted a meeting of delegates from all the different Pallottine
congregations of men and women in the U.S. It was a time of
networking to find new ways to live out the spirituality and
apostolate of St. Vincent Pallotti.
On August 15, 2004, Sr. Lena May professed her
perpetual vows as a Pallottine Sister. The ceremony was held
in the chapel of the Pallottine Renewal Center in Florissant.
Her family from Kentucky, Pallottine Sisters from the East, and
many local friends joined us for the celebration.
St. Elisabeth Heptner finished her term as
Provincial Superior and is now working at our high school in
Laurel, Maryland.
Sr. Lena has been appointed vocation director
for the sisters. She will no longer teach at Bishop DuBourg
H.S. next year, but she will still live at Pallottine. She
can be reached at 837-7100.
In October, Sr. Gail will travel to Tanzania
for an international Pallottine meeting.
