         DAVE'S  TWISTED CORNER

Another lost soul has found their way here...

Welcome to my corner - the ever expanding recesses of my cranial cavity.Known throughout Yahoo! as flapjax69, my non-cyber name is Dave. For those who wonder, I am thirty four going on 20.  While this may sound a bit immature, that statement is both a mantle piece and a cross to bear.  Time will eventually change it.   Here in my corner, I attempt to show the diversity of this planet, though on a personal level, it is hard to be truly diverse.  It is said beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but one of my unique abilities is believing that I can find beauty in anything. Dig deep enough, you will find it.
I am (technically) a student at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where my curricular interests are Geography and Sociology.  I like people and these subjects offer possibilities to know them better.  I feel that people are just puzzles, but we haven't  found all the pieces quite yet.   I enjoy the social science aspect of Geography, yet I like the physical science aspect,  too.  Maps have always held a special place for me (no pun intended).

  WELCOME!!!

      I
I am currently working nights at an independent bookstore in Tulsa, Oklahoma.    I have been with Novel Idea since early in the summer of 1998.  At one point I considered writing a book (a couple different ones actually), but my mind has wandered on to poetry, because I enjoy it and I am told that I am good at it. Today, I was notified that my poem "Whispers" will be published in an anthololgy called "Awaking to Sunshine" in the summer of 2000. Other news - I will be closing the chapter on the bookstore and be moving on. Read up on it on my adventure page.

DAVE!

My  musical interests are quite varied.   They run from current fare such as  STP, Alice in Chains, Collective Soul,Creed, and the Goo Goo Dolls.  "Heavy metal"   which included Ratt, Ozzy Osbourne, Guns and Roses, Yngwie Malmsteen and Deep Purple, served often as a soundtrack for my high school years.    I am also one of the biggest  Beatles freaks, thanks to my dad's  vinyl collection.  Jazz (too many favorites), classical, blues (Stevie yeah!!), even a little country have bent my ears.   I am a musician myself, my forte being guitar, having played it since I was thirteen.
Good musicians have the ability to re-invent themselves.  Throught the assistance of quite a few people too numerous to mention (they know that's all that matters)  I have found myself doing things that I only dreamed of doing.   Up to about two months ago, I thought that I was a questionable poet.  But I was comparing myself to classic poets like William Blake and Samuel Taylor Coleridge.  But several nice people have questioned my modesty.  Check for yourself at the General Musings page.  I now have three pages of poetry, one that includes a soon to be published poem.

I am a rock and roller at heart.  Fast and powerful things fascinate me.  Football and car racing are among the fascinations I try to sneak into my palate from time to time.  I root for the Washington Redskins of the NFL and Rusty Wallace in NASCAR, and against the Dallas Cowboys and whiney pretty boy Jeff Gordon.  Chemical imbalances have been hobbies at one point in my life, now I try to restrict these pleasures to the occasional weekend ~ some simply because I have found a better substitute, working out.   The high is better and there is a better sense of control for me.  On the subject of control, (from one who has been there) don't drink and drive.   I have seen the results of this and none are good.   I have done some crazy things in my life, so I know there are other exciting things out there to do.  Like many racers say, alcohol and driving only mix when alcohol is in your fuel.
Enjoy life, but do know your limitations (there always are).  I  have paid for learning this lesson late in life.  Learn to laugh at life when you'd rather cry or kick the dog.   E-mail me on life, love, philosophy, sports, or whatever interests you ~ perhaps why all these animals are hanging about the place.

I am always looking for ways to improve it here.  When,  you visit here, give me input through e-mail, guestbook (it's here.. look for it) or message board. Tis the only way I can improve it.
