Apr. 12 our Blossom went home to heaven.

In October changed to cows milk. Ate practically nothing but milk until 14 mo. old. From 4 mo. of age constipated and shakes her head a good deal. Finally relieved by cascara. Dr. Weaver of Gr. Rapids helps her generally. Her back and limbs are weak, also kidneys. Dr. J. L. Taylor of Springfield for measles.

Whenever I wore a new dress Blossom would pat it in appreciation. She also noticed her own clothes. Would help pull on her stockings. Did so the last time she was dressed, Friday before she died. Would pat her head when she wanted hood on and point to the closet where it hung. Would say "good bye" and wave her fingers after a person went. Would help hold Mary's bottle and move her mouth in imitation of Mary and then smile out of the corner of her mouth. Start John's engine and look to see if we were watching then peek up and smile her dear little one sided smile. Started to feed herself when Mary was born. Could handle her spoon at her mouth finally but we had to fill her spoon each time. Especially fond of cream pie. Did not care much for candy. Liked apples and ice cream. Would take any kind of medicine without question. Loved Mary and kissed her last of all, on Sunday, then pushed her away with half a smile. Lay beside me all day Saturday with her little head under my arm or her feet in my ribs. Let me hold her hand some. Sat up in bed alone Saturday night. Woke up at three a.m. Monday and said "Bath - bath". I got up and washed her hands and gave her 3 teaspoonful of milk1 Then she went back to sleep. Dennis fed her 2 or 3 oz. of Mellin's Food about 1:00 p.m. At 3:00 I feed her an ounce or two, after lying on the bed near her an hour. Then I fed the baby and entertained a caller. When I went to her 4:45 she was already in slight convulsions, which continued until her death at 8:00 p.m1 Her dear little hands clasped mine during the last 3 hours but she did not see or hear us. She was just so tired, and died so calmly and peacefully. Her dear little eyes saw her papa last when he left a kiss on her lips at noon, and her mama when she fed her and gave her medicine about 3:30 and promised "not to bother you again until 5:00." She seemed more nervous when we were near her, so we stayed in the next room mostly. Her dependence on me was so great that life seems empty now.

This winter we used to wrap her up and put her on the porch in her little chair. She would rock for an hour at a time. She would hold Alice's testament in one hand and read da'da'da'da' or sing. She could stand up, and walk by the side of the bed. would turn her on her stomach and she would slip off the bed alone. Her hair curled beautifully but she rolled her head so much it was usually mussed up. Always liked to get in bed with us the last part of the night. Had sometimes climbed up two steps of the stairs. Would creep to the kitchen door and call for us to put her in high chair. Crept by putting her head on the floor, getting on her feet and walking around her head in a half circle, then sitting up and putting her head down farther on and repeating. She could do this very quickly. Sometimes crawled to things close by. Dennis would say, "How's your ear?" And she would feel of her ears. If you offered her a drink and she wasn't thirsty she would grasp the cup and put her fist in water or milk quickly. I would say, "Put your head on the pillow" and she would do it so carefully.

Dear Little Girl, whom I long to see,

If only in dreams you'd come back to me;

If only in dreams I might see your face sweet,

Radiant with love your dear ones to greet.

Home is not Home now our darling's away;

Home is a sad, sad place to stay

Where memories dear bring more pain than joy,

Wakened by sight of a well loved toy.

Come back to the arms that long to enfold

This dear little girl with the hair of gold;

And eyes like the sea, a deep, deep blue,

Windows for love and truth shine through.

Come back to the heart that scarce can beat on

For the lack of a dear little form that's gone--

Of a curly head to press 'gainst the breast,

A tired child to soothe to rest.

Dear Little feet that were made to kiss,

Bringing to us a moment of bliss!

Dear little hands that were made to cling!

Dear little voice just learning to sing!

Our baby was sent us a gift from above,

Too frail to stay tho' cradled with love.

Sweetly and calmly, at close of the day,

Her brave little spirit stole softly away.

Blossom's at Home in the Kingdom of God;

Only her dust lies under the sod.

Faith, Hope, and Love point to gates made of pearl

Where we shall be welcomed by our little girl.
