Hole In The Heart
The love that grew in time
Captured that heart of mine
We were together
I thought forever
Yet one day
Reality went astray
There was no future
No way to suture
The gap that slowly formed
The events that transformed
We would not submit
The truth was difficult to admit
Yet when love departs
It leaves a hole in the heart
An aching soul
Further widens the hole
Because the love surrendered
Is always remembered
It pierces the heart
Tears you apart
As we kissed good-bye
My heart began to cry
My mind asked why
This love had to die
Emptiness overwhelms you
Loneliness imprisons you
The past is confined
The future undefined
Yet onward we trudge
Seeking not to begrudge
The one who stole your heart
The one who tore us apart
Trying to recover from what was lost
It's priceless; it has no cost
Its value cannot be replaced
Nor can the loss ever be erased
Time eases the pain in the heart
Attempting to remove the loss from the start
Yet finding the courage to mend the hole
Means searching for a new beginning, a new soul
The search ends when we see the light
Arousing a spirit from within to ignite
A spark to mend the hole
A flame to rekindle the soul

The love that thrives
Will always survive
But the love surrendered
Will always be remembered
