| “Doctors have given her a few more months to live.” Todd told me. Something didn’t sound right to me. Todd was keeping a secret from me & I didn’t like it. “Todd, how much longer does she actually have left.” “Doctors said about another year & a half & they don’t think she will last that long even. They say that she is still doing really well for someone who is losing their life from cancer.” “Todd, I have another question.” “Shoot.” “Do you know what became of your parents?” “Yes, they called later on the day you left. Both of them wanted nothing to do with you so, they figured that if they left you would take the responsibility of caring for Sunny. They lied saying that they were going on a vacation, but Sarah got the truth from them. Now they aren’t allowed to ever see Sunny again.” “Your parents have always hated me. I don’t blame Sarah for not allowing them to see their granddaughter. I know I wouldn’t.” Todd & I both retired to bed. I left Sunny with her mother knowing she would want t be there to say goodbye. My mind was full of so many questions, info, answers; everything was so bottled up in my mind that I didn’t sleep. I went to go check on Sunny & Sarah. Sarah was awake looking at the ceiling. She noticed me. “Howie why are you still up?” “I can’t sleep so I decided to come check on you.” “Is something on your mind?” |
