Chapter 6 |
The room was bigger than my living room, kitchen, & den combined. It had everything from computers to a big screen TV. There was a VCR, a DVD Player, Video Game Systems, Two comfortable Chairs, a couch, a couple beanbags, ect. “Sunny where did all this stuff come from?” “Mom, Uncle Todd, Grandma, & Grandpa got all of it.” “Oh OK,” We sat down & started to watch a movie when a scream came from upstairs. Sunny jumped up & took off down the hall. I followed her at a slower pace. Soon I heard Todd calling me. “Howie, will you call 911. I think Sarah might need a doctor.” I nodded & took off down the hall to the nearest phone. I dialed & talked with the operator very calmly. Paramedics arrived within 5 minutes of my call. They took Sarah to the nearest hospital. Todd, Sunny, & I followed. We waited in the waiting room for hours hoping & waiting for any word on Sarah condition. I saw a doctor walk into the room. “Are you here for Sarah Robins?” he asked. “Yes,” Todd replied. “I have some good news & some bad news on her condition. The good news is that she is OK for the time being. The bad thing is she will probably die sometime this week.” I heard Sunny gasp. She leaned onto my shoulder & started to cry. I held her. I knew my plain was leaving at the end of next week, but if things were this bad I knew I couldn’t leave. We all waited for the worst to happen. |
