Chapter 30 |
(3 days later, Christie’s View) Howie was driving down a dirt driveway. We had hit Kentucky the night before & I was getting prepared to met Howie’s bandmates & friends. We pulled up to a nicely sized house. Four men were sitting on the porch puzzled about the van. Howie stopped the van, turned it off, stepped outside, & made a joke toward the men on the porch. “I surrender,” he said. The men laughed & came up to Howie. They were to busy talking so they didn’t seem to notice me. Within 5 minutes the man with all the tattoos on his arms asked who the cute chick was. “That is Christie,” Howie answered “Kara’s mother.” The four men seemed to be shocked. One of them finally spoke up & introduced himself. “Hi I’m Kevin,” The others slowly followed. “I’m Brian.” “I’m A.J.” “I’m Nick.” “Well,” I said “It’s nice to know that there are faces to the names of the people Howie said were going to help us.” They smiled & we were invited inside. I grabbed Kara & the puppies. We walked inside. A young woman walked out of the kitchen & hugged Howie. “Howie it’s so good to know you & Kara are OK.” A little boy came out ran over to Kara. They talked quietly among themselves. I was introduced to Kristen, Kevin’s wife, & their son Kevin Jr. or Little Kevin as Kara likes to call him. I also met Brian’s parents & brother Jackie, Harold Senior, & Harold Jr. After a well-cooked lunch we decided to head out & continue our journey. I found out Kristen & her son were also coming. Howie & I warned her that it was dangerous, but she said it would be better for them to come along so I wouldn’t be stuck with 5 men & Kara wouldn’t be bored. Finally we agreed & began to pack up. |
