PERRY COUNTY 2004
Ah, what is there to say about Perry County.  Not much actually.  It's mostly mountains, farmlands, and hicks.  There aren't even any traffic lights in the county.  (Forest County is the only other county in Pennsylvania to have the same distinction.)  The locals protest and holler if the idea of even studying the possibility of installing a traffic light is discussed.  The locals fear technology and progress.  Actually, it's more like they are just not very intelligent  This is a county where members on the local school board don't even have a GED.  I think that speaks volumes.  Afterall, these folks shoot shoot their rifles to celebrate New Years without realizing what gravity is.   I'm not sure that they have completely grasped the concept of SCIENCE just yet. And let's not forget about almost being run off the road by a snow plow... in July.  Yep, these folks ain't bright..

Liverpool is located along Rt 15 along the banks of the Susquehanna.  This is quite possibly the most progressive part of the county as they are soon getting a Subway shop.  That and the borough is only a stone's thow away from neighboring Juniata and Snyder Counties to the north.

During the summer Nessie likes to leave cold and dank Scotland and vacation in warm, tropical Liverpool.

Watch out for those tractors!
Believe it or not, there is actually more to do in Perry County than to just visit Liverpool.  Why you've got the booming metropolises of Marysville, Duncannon, Loysville, Newport, and New Bloomfield... all jumping with activity.  Don't mistake them for the podunk towns in neighboring Juniata County.  They just don't even compare.  To get to these towns though you've got to drive through the middle of nowhere.  But the drive is so well worth it.

Driving down this road at Mach 5 with your head sticking out the side window may cause vertigo.
Middle of Nowhere
You have to drive through the "middle of nowhere" to get to anywhere in particular in Perry County.
Newport
The heart of Perry County.  They have a real grocery store and a stell bridge.  Them folks have accepted some modern conveniences.  Still, no traffic lights though.
New Bloomfield
The county seat of Perry County.  So much to do in this town.  The local bowling alley even has THREE lanes.
Perry County Fair
Held anually in bustling Newport every August.  This is the time of the year where every Perry Countian washes up there overalls, puts on some shoes (without holes in the toes), and party with high society.  It is also the butt of many jokes in neighboring, traffic light-laden Cumberland County to the south...

Q:  What has three teeth and is five miles long?
A:  The funnel cake line at the Perry County Fair.
