R*O*C*K*S!
I loved Roundhouse! ~Penny's theatre teacher Mr. Parker ("Kid Blink")

Roundhouse was so cool. I miss it! It was like, a cleaner Saturday Night Live. ~Our friend Elizabeth
We know what you're thinking, because we were once in this precarious situation too: WHAT THE HELL IS ROUNDHOUSE AND WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH NEWSIES??

As you may or may not know, four newsies were on the 1992 Nickelodean TV show Roundhouse. To be precise, those four newsies were Ivan Dudynsky (Dutchy) Mark David (Specs) Dominic Lucero (Bumlets) and David Sidoni (Pie Eater).

Roundhouse was deemed a "teenager show", because it dealt with real life high school issues. It was like a TV show within a TV show. There were "commercials"- sketches having to do with the moral of the episode. (Dr. Quinn Taste of Your Own Medicine Woman; Obey Watch; Empty V; etc.) And what made Roundhouse especially unique was that the actors never played the same characters each week. The main character had a different name every episode. The characters were supposed to represent any kid in the world, hence the name Anykid. (Doug Anykid, Zack Anykid, etc.) There were also names like Anytown and the Anyfamily.

Ivan Dudynsky was a big one on the show, along with his acting partner and friend, Mark David. They often played kid characters. Dominic Lucero, a dancer, sometimes played a kid as well. David Sidoni could be seen doing characters such as game show hosts and school bullies.

Since SOME parents :::pointed look at Mom and Dad::: are too cheap to get cable, a few poor unfortunate souls such as myself have never seen Roundhouse. So how do we know so much? Web sites. There are many wonderful sites out there full of lost Roundhouse info. We dedicated our time- or at least we did before our entire frikkin site crashed- to compiling a page full of songs, quotes, and episode that include our guys.

We've never seen the show, and all the information here is from other sites. We are giving 100% credit to Deb of the Ultimate Roundhouse Site, Bre of the Roundhouse House, and Adge of the Easychair Expressway for any Roundhouse-related things at the Happy Newsies Minivan.
Penny's "Kid Blink Is My Theatre Teacher" Story of the Day
In our theatre class, every Friday we have to write a journal talking about movies, plays, musicals, actors, our experiences with theatre, anything to do with theatre. So naturally I wrote about Newsies. The journal had to be half a page long and I filled up a good third just listing all the actors' names. Mr. Parker, the theatre teacher, would sometimes write comments on the side.  Here's what I wrote. (Mr. Parker's comments are in green.)

My favorite movie is Newsies Great play, too!, and one of the reasons I like it so much is the wonderful actors with all their very different characters. Christian Bale stars in it and he is REALLY cool. The other actors are not so well known but the way they portray their characters is still very interesting. Christian Bale, David Moscow, Luke Edwards [Here is where I listed all the names of the actors... I think you know them] and even Gabriel Damon and Ele Keats have sparked my interest in theatre, even though I've always been interested. I also enjoy shows with unique formats like Christmas Stars and the TV show Roundhouse which has been off the air for years but was indeed quite... different. Anyway, I really really like Newsies and Roundhouse I loved Roundhouse! I have an episode on tape and they are both very inspiring.

When I get the time I'm gonna ask Mr. Parker if I can borrow his episode of
Roundhouse.
Reprise the theme song and roll the credits!
