| Naomi was running. Running from her past, her future, her enemy. Running from her brother. How he got to her and her three friends, Ivy, Ian, and Dominic, she didn't know. They thought they would be safe in Manhattan, New York. But they were wrong. Very, very, wrong. * * * Spot Conlon wasn't usually the one to run. He'd been in worse situations than this one, yet he was running. He didn't quite know why. He kinda felt like someone was telling him to run. "Yer crazy, Conlon," he said to himself. But he didn't stop running. Brooklyn didn't like Harlem, and Harlem didn't like Brooklyn. Maybe that's why they were trying to kill each other all the time. * * * Naomi felt her brother, Camreon, getting closer. She had a gift. An incredible gift. Naomi ran around the corner, looking behind her, and not where she was going..... * * * Spot ran faster, trying to get back to Brooklyn for backup. He was outnumbered. Maybe that's why he was running. Spot looked behind him and ran around the corner..... * * * "Damn!" Naomi and Spot yelled as they hit each other and fell to the ground. "Why doncha watch where yer goin'!" Spot yelled. He stood up, brushed himself off, and found himself staring into the eyes of the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen. She had strawberry-blond hair and clear, icy-blue eyes. She seemed to have glitter or something on her eyelids, which made her even more beautiful. Spot snapped out of his trance. Conlons aren't supposed to fall in love. "Me? Why don't you watch where you're going!" Naomi yelled in reply. "Do ya even know who I am?" "Should I?" "Just..... oh, shit." Spot looked up and saw the six or seven Harlem guys looking down at him. "Uh, yeah," Naomi said, looking up at her brother. He smiled his creepy I'm-An-Evil-Guy smile at Naomi. Naomi thought, then smiled. She put her hand on Spot's arm, and closed her eyes. Seconds later, they were in the Brooklyn Lodging House. * * * Spot opened his eyes. Where was he? He looked around. Brooklyn? He saw the girl he had bumped in to standing next to him. He stepped back, put his fists up, and said, "Who are you, and where are we, and how did we get heah?" Naomi laughed. Normal people, she said to herself. They just never get it. "I'm Naomi. And you are....." Naomi closed her eyes again. "Spot Conlon of Brooklyn. And we're in your own Lodging House. I took us here." Spot put down his fists and raised an eyebrow. "Lemme get dis straight: You're Naomi. You know dat I'm Spot Conlon..... hell, everyone does..... We're in Brooklyn. And you took us heah?" Naomi nodded. "Yep." "I'm not usually freaked out by anythin', but you're startin' tah scare me." Naomi sighed. "Brooklyn. You're just like everyone says you are. Well, I gotta go-" "People say stuff bout me?" "Yeah, all the time..... well, bye!" Naomi said and closed her eyes. Seconds later, she was back with Ivy, Dominic, and Ian. Spot just stood there. And fainted. * * * "Oh God..... Ian, Dom! Naomi's back!" Ivy yelled to her twin brother and boyfriend. She ran towards Naomi, who was slowly walking towards her best friend since forever. "Ivy!" "Naomi! We thought he had you..." "Nah. Almost did, though. Then I teleported..... with this CUTE guy..... back to his home. Then came back here." "Ooh, looks like little Naomi has a crush on an Earth boy! Ha! That's funny," came a voice from the back of the ship with a fun little English accent. But Dominic was NOT all prim and proper...at 17, he was exactly the opposite. "Oh, shut up Dominic! You are so mean!" Naomi said, blushing slightly. Spot Conlon was cute, but he had a huge ego..... from what Naomi read. Naomi could read minds. So could Ivy, Dominic, and Ian. But Ivy and Ian, the twins, had telekinesis, and sometimes used their telepathic abilities to talk between themselves, or others, and Dominic was a shapeshifter. All people from the planet Dominia had gifts, or powers as some called them. Ivy and Ian's were strange...they were born on Earth... Dominic had dark hair and cute eyebrows..... he looked strangely like a boy in Spot's memory..... Itey, was it? Naomi didn't know. Nor did she care. Ian looked exactly like his sister. Brown hair with small hints of blond highlights, and brown eyes. Average height at sixteen, unlike Naomi, who was short and thin at fifteen. Ian yawned. "Ivy, put the ship on autopilot. Lets get out of this Earth place and go home." "We can't, Ian. Not until we're sure Camreon is off of Earth...he could destroy it, like everywhere else he goes. Besides, we were born in Manhattan. It's our last piece of Mom and Dad..." Ian looked at the floor, then at Dominic. "What are we waiting for?" He laughed. "Dom, you stay with the ship if you don't like Earth so much." Dominic's mouth dropped open. "But--" "Don't worry about it, Ian. Nothing bad'll happen to it. Let's go have some fun," Naomi said, acting like the last Jet Force Ship in the entire Universe was nothing. The four held hands. Naomi closed her eyes. Soon, they were in front of a place called Irving Hall..... * * * Spot awoke to water being poured on his face. He quickly sat up. "What da hell....." Fists, Spots Right-Hand-Guy, just stared at Spot. "Dat's what we was gonna ask you, Conlon. Oh, yeah, yer cousin's here. Dodge.....?" "Spot, you alroight? What happened? Was it Harlem?" the girl asked. Dodge Conlon, Spot's favorite, and only, cousin. Spot shook his head. "Nah, it wasn't Harlem. It was a goil...... Naomi. I was runnin' from Harlem when I bumped intah her, an' she touched my arm, an I felt a shock, an-" "Ya sure you ain't drunk, Conlon?" This time it was Fists. He wasn't afraid of Spot. They grew up together. And THAT is where Pixie left off. Isn't she annoying? ~Penny Back to Fan Fiction/Back to the Happy Newsies Minivan |
