Reconnaissance Aircraft

The Junkers Ju 86P was upgraded from the old bomber Ju 86 to become a high-altitude bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. It served with some impunity over southern England and Russia until some converted Spitfires managed to overcome the altitude challenge.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 189 Uhu was an odd-looking plane that was only admitted to service for its excellent toughness and handling. The Fw 189 also served as close support aircraft besides carrying out reconnaissance duties.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Kondor was developed as a long-range airliner and had achieved non-stop flights from Germany to New York and Tokyo. During the war the Fw 200 was converted to maritime reconnaissance aircraft because no other plane had the endurance.
