XANDER: At the moment, Xander still lives in Sunnydale. During Season 5, he moved out of his parents' basement and into his very own apartment. He found out that he is really good at construction work and now works for a construction company, and seems to be a supervisor of some sort. He and Anya seemed to be very happy, and Xander even asked her to marry him during the fifth season finale, just as they were about to go battle the evil goddess, Glory. With Buffy's death and subsequent resurrection, Xander was very hesitant to share the news of their engagement with the rest of the Scoobies, which caused a rift between he and Anya early in the sixth season. After the announcement was finally made, the wedding plans started to come along nicely, but, at the last minute, Xander got cold feet and stood Anya up at the alter. Anya was devestated by this, and was reinstated as a vengence demon. Will she ever forgive him?? I don't know if I could. The sixth season finale saw Xander standing up against Evil Willow and talking her out of destroying the world, thus saving the day. I'm anxious to see what Joss & Co. have in store for our brave, loyal Xander next season, but there is no doubt that the events of the past two seasons have made him a bit wiser and a bit more mature (although just a bit) than he was in high school.

CORDELIA: Cordelia has spent the last three years in L.A. working with Angel, Wes, Gunn, Fred and Lorne at Angel Investigations. About halfway through the first season she was given the "gift" of visions by Doyle, Angel's first sidekick in L.A., before he sacrificed himself to save the world. These visions had been killing Cordy because they were never meant to be possessed by humans, so in the third season, Cordelia was given the choice of giving them up or keeping them. After careful consideration, she chose to keep them, and the Powers That Be took part of her humanity and made her part-demon so that she could keep the visions without suffering the human side effects. We've seen Cordelia and Angel become closer in the third season, and we learned that Angel might be in love with Cordelia. In the third season finale, Cordelia realizes she might be in love with Angel, too, but before they can meet to talk about their feelings, Cordelia is confronted with the fact that the Powers That Be have decided she is ready for a "higher purpose," and Cordelia, now being one who knows she can never shirk her duties as a champion, accepts this and gracefully ascends -- i'm assuming to meet with the Powers That Be -- even as Angel is descending into a watery grave. We'll have to see what season 4 has in store for our lovely Cordelia, and how her "higher purpose" will change her life.
