YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY...

You know what THEY say about shame
They say "fool me once, shame on you
fool me twice, shame on me"
To me that seems pretty lame
If you're cruel enough to fool me again
How is it I should take the blame?

For THEY also say "two wrongs don't make a right"
Ah, but three lefts do ...think about it

And after you're done thinking about that
Explain to me why THEY say "opposites attract"
Then THEY turn around and claim
"birds of a feather flock together"
It seems THEY change their minds like the weather

Well, I don't care what THEY say
Who are these people anyway?
Can you tell me, who are THEY?
I wish that THEY would go away

I'm sure you've heard the saying that
"you've gotta take the good with the bad"
But "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade"
What - without sugar? No one wants to taste that!

And speaking of fruits, I've also heard
"One bad apple won't spoil the whole bunch"
I thought it was bananas that came in bunches
"It's like comparing apples and oranges"

But be careful what you put in your lunches
Because, you know, THEY say
"you are what you eat"
If that's true, then I must be mighty sweet

But THEY would just tell you
"it's six of one, and half a dozen of the other"

Now tell me, how can this possibly be
when THEY also say "everything comes in threes"
And THEY say "you get what you pay for"
But also that "paybacks are a bitch"
I think THEY all suck at arithmetic

Well, I don't care what THEY say
Who are these people anyway?
Have THEY told you how to live today?
I wish that THEY would go away

THEY would have you believe that "life is too short"
Yet people are always complaining they're bored
And why, then, are we always waiting somewhere?
In line at the market, or at the left turn arrow

I've heard it said "where there's smoke, there's fire"
Is that what happened to the pants of the "liar, liar"?
THEY also say "they don't make 'em like THEY used to"
I'd say that sounds like a confession, wouldn't you?

I have to admit that one time THEY weren't wrong
for "when the going gets tough, the tough get going"
....and I'm gone
