Jousting Rules
A Judge will be assigned for the joust.

The Judge will match up people and inform each pair when it is time for their match. The Judge will keep track of the ongoing winners and matchup brackets.

The scoring will be quite realistic and fair. Each Contestant will send a PM to the Judge, stating whether His lance will be aimed high, middle or low. He will also place his shield high, middle or low for protection.
After the judge has both PMs, the Judge will then signal the Two Contestants to charge.

The Contestants then will make a post each describing their start and run towards the other, then stating the placement of their Lance and Shield. If these posts do not match what was sent in PM to the Judge, the Judge shall overrule the posts, and the results taken from what was posted to the Judge.
The Judge will then either rule a winner or a tie for that match determined by where shield and lance placement were stated and whether or not a reasonable outcome was achieved.  Their ruling is final.

The object is to either force your opponent from their mount or win if they sustain an injury that prevents them from realistically continuing on in the tournament.

An unprotected strike to the chest or head will result in an unseating of the opponent/s.  If both are unseated it will be ruled a tie and will be rematched.
An unprotected strike to anywhere else on the body will result in serious injury obviously and all realistic consequences will be determined by the Judge as well as the one who inflicted the injury.  They inflicted it, they shall have the right to determine just where they struck their opponent.  That is, after all, only fair.
The only factor that will cancel out such an injury is if the rider's lance was at that same position and is considered to have deflected the blow.  See the examples below.

((Example 1:  Rider One carries his shield high, his lance low, Rider Two strikes Rider One low as his lance thereby resulting in a deflecting blow and depending on placement of Rider Two's shield and such on where Rider One's lance strikes will determine the match outcome.))

((Example 2:  Rider One carries his shield high, his lance middle and Rider Two strikes him low with his lance and his own shield is carried middle and deflects Rider One's lance...Rider One will be singing soprano or limping badly for a while and Rider Two will claim the match and move up in the standings or win the tournament if its the deciding match.))

Armor was armor back then but then an iron tipped lance was just that also.  Penetration was known to happen in struck joints and bones broken from the sheer impact or the hard fall from the horse.  It wasn't a sport for sissies.  People died in jousts but for the sake of r/p and such that will not happen in our jousts.  Save the death for combat and death spars.
But that isn't to say we won't allow serious injuries to aid in the realism of the matches.  What's the realism if no one gets injured somewhere in the tournament?

Any rule or question not covered above will be ruled upon by the Judge and will be final.

Combat/Sparring Rules
Our combat/sparring rules are plain and simple and all Kill Rules of Pheyland Keep apply.

First and foremost there is of course NO magic of ANY kind allowed in Pheyland Keep.  No exceptions will be made for anyone.

There will be a total of three (3) alternating posts per each combatant/sparrer that can either be offensive or defensive in nature.

Force posting is allowed IF agreed upon by ALL involved in the combat or spar and is of course believable and realistic.

Weapons used will be made known to all opponents before combat or spar.
Any not mentioned and used will not be allowed or valid unless agreed upon by ALL involved in the combat/spar.   Be realistic, contrary to what some characters think, in medieval times a person was not a walking armory/arsenal within reason.  Yes they may own lots of weapons but carry them all on their person?  We think not.  Use logic and common sense please.

All deaths resulting from any combat or spar must be scripted and sent to the Room
e-mail so it can be noted and declared legal within room rules.

Any rule not covered here or have questions?  Please e-mail the Room e-mail and let us know somehow.

Any unresolved or disputed outcome of any combat/spar/death must be scripted and sent to the Room
e-mail for the Kingdom's rulers and/or their stead in their absence to determine the fair outcome.  All rulings by them or their stead will be final.
Any decision not made by the King or Queen can be reversed by them if need be.
