My Accutane Adventure, Week One
Well, it's been four days so far since my first pill. I am on a projected course of 20 weeks; starting at 40mg. once a day for the first 30 days.

So far, I have noticed my skin is getting drier than usual, mainly my arms are a bit itchy. My face however is far less oily, which is just great! Normally I am very shiny when I wake, and after I shower I can actually watch the oil bead up on my nose as I dry. Gross. I am much happier this way! I woke up on the second day with a nice headache, that persisted all day, diminishing as the day grew late. I've had a tiny amount of back pain today that caught me by suprise as I jumped on my indoor mini trampoline, and that concludes my side effect list as of now. Oh, one last thing worth mentioning: I have not developed any new breakouts at all since starting my first pill, pretty cool huh! The day before I started I developed 2 small bumps/cysts (about the size of a pencil eraser) under my skin on my cheek. One never surfaced and seemed to diminish underneath the skin, and the other is on the surface, and oozing a slight clear liquid after I exfoliate. Strange, but true. I look relatively clear for a change. I am due to start my period soon, which always triggers ann outbreak about this time, so we will wait and see if and when it comes at all. I can dream, right?

Oh, and for anyone intrested in what products I use, and what methods of prevention I use as pretaining to the expected dryness, here they are! I have been drinking about 100oz. of water a day. Yikes! Thats alot of water! I use faithfully Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser, and when needed, Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion (Fragrance and Irritant Free). I am using Pure White Petroleum Jelly on my lips and inner nose at night to prevent dryness; my lips are a bit chapped. Very bearable though! I also have made important dietary changes to avoid having high cholesterol. I avoid high fatty dairy products, fatty meats, eat lots of fish, veggies and fruits. I've cut out butter, fried foods and some sugary foods. I have to avoid eating too many foods rich in vitamin A and Beta Carotene as well per my Dermatologists advise. I am about to begin a regimen of taking 400IU's of Vitamin E, and a zinc supplement for immunity. Whew! Now I'm really done!!! Bye for now!
