Of November 1952 vintage, I am Glaswegian by birth.  I have a mixture of mainly Scottish and Dutch blood in my veins, with a sprinkling of Irish. Dad was also Glasgow born and bred, and met my mother in The Hague, Holland, while on National Service. Mum was born in The Hague to parents (my Oma and Opa) who were both Dutch. My paternal grandparents were from Ireland, Granny being from  Belfast, and Grandad from Dublin.

My guitar and motorcycles - now also history!
Sadly, dad passed away on May 2, 2002 after a long illness. He is survived by mum, who is a retired school auxiliary, myself and my  three sisters, all younger than me, who have families of their own. I am the only one who has never been married.

Friends
The love of my life, whom I met in December 2007, is Rosemary, a lovely woman who has given me a new direction in life.
Joe,  whom I met while in 1st  year at St Mungo's Academy, in the autumn of 1965, has been a lifelong friend. In 1965 we  played chess and swapped postage stamps.  In 1968 we played together in the school orchestra. Joe and his wife Anne Marie meet me for a drink once a  week.
My worlds of music, amateur radio and worship, are all sources of companionship and moral support and as such, are greatly valued.
Hobbies and Interests
I derive great enjoyment from playing organ and  trombone.  As well as being organist at St Thomas' Gallowgate Parish Church, where the organ is a G.E.M. Chorus Mk III electronic instrument., On an occasional  Saturday morning I practise on the pipe organ at St  Aloysius Catholic Church, Springburn. Another pipe organ of which I'm custodian is the 3-manual Lewis at Community Central Hall, Maryhill Road.

For several years I've been a committee member of the Glasgow Orchestral Society, with whom I also play 1st Trombone.   To keep a balanced perspective, I have a non-musical hobby - Amateur Radio, and hold a Full  Amateur Radio licence. (GM0KTO).  I'm also  Editor of FM News, a newsletter sent to subscribers to the Central Scotland FM Group. As well as this, I've been a member of the West of Scotland Amateur Radio Society since May 1988.  Carrying out research, writing articles and occasional photography are further interests.
