For Authors
If you have a play that you would like available for production, please send it to playintheroad@yahoo.com. Please consider that many major publishing companies require scripts to have had productions, and you may keep your script at Play in the Road only temporarily. (Some of the Play in the Road authors are otherwise published.) Also, a new policy requires people who are to produce a play must send the author a video and program of the production.

Please mention if you would like your script considered for the
Gold Star Playwriting Contest with your submission.
When submitting a play, please have it in the following format:
ACT #, SCENE #
The scene is this and this CHARACTER is doing that.

CHARACTER.
Characters's lines. Blah, blah, blah. (CHARACTER moves to this side of the stage, and then HE exits.)
OTHER CHARACTER. Yeah, that's so interesting. Excuse me while I speak in Dutch: Blah bee blooh be bloo. (SHE bows to the audience, then dies dramatically.)

ACT #, SCENE ##
Same as Act #, Scene #. OTHER CHARACTER is still dead on the stage.

CHARACTER.
(Enters stage right,) Wow. It's too bad that the other character had to die.
In addition, please keep in mind the following rules:
1. No swearing
2. No glamorizing of immoral behavior
3. Make sure that the script is producible
Please follow the above rules, or your submission will not be accepted. Most of Play in the Road clients are high schools and non profit youth groups, so please keep that in mind when submitting.
Additionally, do not put spaces between each line of dialog. This makes it very, very difficult to post scripts online!
