The people living in Arcadia are very poor but are willing to put up with their humdrum existence until one day a tree is discovered that bears a fruit which will change their lives.  The fruit makes everyone so happy that they forget their mundane existence, their lowly position and even forget to go to work.  As news of its addictive effects spreads across the country, people become layback and idle and the governing authority decides they must try and stamp it out so they make its possession illegal.  However the scourge continues unabated until eventually the authorities do the only thing they can do - they legalise and tax it!

This play was awarded first prize in the 2004 Cornwall One-Act Play Writing Competition.
