The Party Chapter 1 Patrick
Mark Jensen was a promising young doctor. His talent and excellent manners
made him an outstanding member of Colby's small medical team. In fact, his
entire professional future looked bright and hopeful. Yet, this evening,
rather than attending an awards banquet for receiving yet another honor, Dr.
Patrick was doing chaperone duty at a teenager’s birthday party. For hours,
the man who many looked up to as a role model stood by the staircase in the
hallway between the kitchen and the den ensuring that none of the teenagers
present tried anything funny. Although
the day at the clinic had already been long, he had cheerfully taken his
post, settling in for the long haul. After hours without incident, Patrick
found himself relaxing, and eventually, he might actually take a seat in the
crowded room. He smiled at the thought that Christa's fourteenth birthday
party was an unqualified success--and he had been a small part of it. As
he quietly observed the interaction among the young people, Patrick spotted
Eric taking Christa's hand and pulling her outside. |
