One:El CENTRO, CA., CITY POISENING CITIZENS WITH OVER CHLORINATED WATER!  PLUS THE Co. TRANSIT WOULD BETTER SERVE ILLEGALS AND DRUG SMUGGLERS ...
(UPDATE AT BOTTOM OF PAGE, DEc.14,02)...When I first arrived (11,4,02) and rented a room in a local historic hotel, I drank about two quarts of the stuff. The next two days were living Hell. First, my disabled kneecap seemed to be void of my continued medication. I even experienced a kidney-liver area pain. AT a local Churches Fried Chicken place(my favorite), I could taste the chlorine even in the strong flavored pekoe tea. Immediately upon walking, I suffered terrible leg-shin pain, forcing me to sit every block or so, even shorter distance as the afternoon went on. FINALLY, after two days of drinking bottled water, I am almost better. THIS IS INEXCUSABLE, El Centro, is a town and area full of Senior and aged persons. Tourists pass through here in droves. There is one other ailment that developed, since childhood, I have been prone to suffer boils, especially if a contamination occurs, I now have one on the back of my neck, it coming into being the 5th or second day here.

SUCH A TERRIBLE HEALTH RISK ONLY BENEFITS DOCTORS AND MORTUARIES...( I just called the CA. Poisen Control number 1 800 222 1222, and their lack of data on chlorine effects on the immune systems is scandalous, I will report them to the EPA. This page will be sent via internet to international, national and state newspapers such as the  readers.rep@uniontrib.com, steve.lopez@latimes.com, and government agencies such as  fraudnet@gao.gov and webmaster@usdoj.gov. It would be interesting to know the U.S. Surgeon Generals knowlege in such a matter.  I am a retired gardener, Chlorine is both a pesticide and insecticide,it can be very dangerous to the immune systems of children and the elderly. No other water in the entire state of California, from my travels tastes this violating.

PLUS THE LOCAL IMPERIAL TRANSIT IS THE WORST TRANSIT SYSTEM, THUS FAR ENCOUNTERED IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.

ITS TRANSIT SCHEDULE BOOK IS A MORASS OF POORLY PRESENTED INFORMATION, IT ALMOST SEEMS AS IT WERE DONE ON PURPOSE!

For instance, I cant locate the Dial A Ride phone number in it. There is also a large Imperial Transit shuttle that can be seen in the area, passing, with seldom any passengers. This is what should be providing quicker service for trips to shopping sites. *A local resident tells me, that Seniors do wait in the extreme heat here, and some of them end up in local hospitals!

ITS BUS THROUGH EL CENTRO BUSINESS AREA (WAL-MART, K-MART, SUPERMARKETS, ETC.) MAKES ALL WAIT TWO HOURS EACH SHIFT. IMAGINE BEING AGED AND SITTING OR STANDING IN 116 DEGREES*, AT MOST STOPS WITHOUT BENCH. AT STOPS THERE IS NO POSTING OF ROUTE INFO. NADA> NOTHING. THE BUSES DONT HAVE THE ROUTE NUMBER ON THEM. UNDER FEDERAL GUIDELINES, THERE SHOULD BE NO DISCRIMINATION, I HAVE SEEN NOTHING BUT MEXICAN OR HISPANIC DRIVERS, NO BLACKS OR WHITES> AND MOST OF THESE SPEAK ENGLISH POORLY.  I HAVE YET TO FIND OUT FROM ANY OF THEM WHAT ROUTE I AM ON OR ANYOTHERS THAT WOULD TAKE ME TO DESTINATION< TO OR FROM. THEIR LACK OF ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE WHAT THEY MAY OR MAY NOT KNOW IS REMARKABLE. I HAVE WITNESSED ELDERS FINDING OUT THEY ARE GOING THE WRONG DIRECTION, ONLY TO GET A TRANSFER AND HAVE TO WAIT YET ANOTHER 2 HOURS> THE IMPERIAL TRANSIT ADMINSTRATORS ARE SADISTS FOR ALLOWING THESE SHORTCOMINGS.

WHAT OF THE LOCAL NEWS SERVICES?  OUR SO CALLED FREE PRESS IS QUITE OFTEN COWARDLY INSTEAD OF COURAGIOUS IN CITIZEN BEHALF.

My other ill welcome was at a Circle K convience store, at 5th and Brighton, tired after those strenous hours waiting for the transit, walking in all that pain, I gave the clerk a $20.00 bill, receiving $7.33 in change, later I realized they had screwed me. My paid amount of $12.67 was far more than the 3-24 oz. cans of beer at 1.35 ea., a pkg. of flour tortillas at $1.59 and a 89 cent can of Campbells pork and beans. TALKING TO LOCALS< I DISCOVERED THIS CIRCLE K DOES THIS ON A REGULAR BASIS. CIRCLE K SHOULD AUDIT THEM! THEIR HEADQUATERS WILL BE NOTIFIED, POSSIBLY SUED. I AM BOTH A SENIOR AND AMERICAN DISABLED.

NEAR THAT UNIT IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL POST OFFICE BUILDINGS, I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED, EL CENTRO WOULD BE WISE TO RECOGNIZE THEIR HISTORIC LEGACY, AND NOT JUST TEAR ALL DOWN FOR ANOTHER GOUCHE STRIP MALL, BUT CONSIDERING THE ABOVE, WHAT CHANCE DOES THAT POST OFFICE HAVE?

WHOOPS! ALL THAT BOASTING IN THE CITIES PERIODICAL, EL CENTRO CONNECTION, AND THE LOCAL LIBRARY HAS THEM AS ITS INTERNET PROVIDER, FORCING THEM TO HAVE INFERIOR INTERNET CONNECTION. SO SLOW< IS IT< ONE CAN EXPECT TO WAIT JUST LIKE FOR THE TRANSIT> J.B.

UPDATE:12,14,02: I now have enough to take the Imperial county transit and Imperial county into Federal Court!

Let me state a firm example why. Two days ago, on the rub to Calexio, Ca., from El Centro, a disabled male, on crutches, was taken by his requested destination to Greyhound bus station on State St., the driver wouldnt let him get off there, said there wasnt a stop there, made him get off two blocks past at bus stop to hobble back to Greyhound! Further along, at 11th Street and Aurira street, he stops at a residential house and picks up a passenger. THERE IS NO BUS STOP THERE. Driver said, "It is a bus stop, the homeowner didnt want a sign there." THERE IS ALSO NO bus stop at Municipal stadium, Stark Field on 4th street, I have been personally told by driver to wait by oleander hedge to await bus there. And I have caught bus there several times.
