I am not the child that I was, although she lives in me. The woman staring back at me from the mirror, I know every nook and cranny, every scratch and skin discoloration. I read her memories on the backs of my eyelids every night. Joyful, lovely, hopeful, fearful, tearful, anxious, her dreams are a jumble of experience and possibility. We survive, the two of us. The girl I was and the woman I am walking hand in hand, discover who she will be tomorrow. |
