Nature Preserve
Twin fawns nose to tail
Yin and Yang Bambi spotted,
curl softly together for protection
and thrum of heartbeats,
nestle on a stone hearth manmade.
Their mother, nostrils flared
tried to stop a car,
but the driver saved her babies.
Hunting knife cesarean
gave birth to twins
for the taxidermist.
