The Joint Operation: Starfleet and the Marine Corps

The USS Endeavor is one of the few starships in Starfleet which serves as a base of operations for a contingent of Starfleet Marines. The department was formed by Captain Alexander Martin as a join operational outfit between Starfleet and the Starfleet Marine Corp. Currently Assigned to the Endeavor is 3rd Platoon, of the 6th Expeditionary unit. The platoon is Commanded by 2nd lieutenant William Hennely, reporting to Captain Winchestor and Colonel McMasters. McMaster’s is the Commanding Officer of the 6th Expeditionary unit. The platoon’s mission consists of the following: Tactical Assault Mission, Recon and Recover Missions, Improve relations with Starfleet, Assist Starfleet Security in ship defense and security operations were needed. All Marines on board are expected to maintain discipline, and should conduct themselves by all laws and Regulations of the SFMC.

Chain of Command

Despite the fact that Captain Winchestor maintains command of the USS Endeavor, the Starfleet Marines remain under the command of Marine Corps Command. The Marine Corps Commanding officer, Colonel McMasters, currently commands the regiment assigned to the Endeavor. Generally, McMasters distributes orders to OPS-O, a non Combatant CO of the Expeditionary unit. The CTO, who reports to the OPS-O, commands all ground forces assigned to the Endeavor. This includes the Foot Soldier, as well as the tank/APC/Scout units. The Endeavor currently has a MC module installed. A Marine Corps liason is assigned to the sector to help coordinate missions to between the Marines and Stafleet. Both the OPS-O and liason served aboard the Endeavor during its initial development of the Marine contingent. In time, both positions became centrally located off ship and coordinate with several ships. Captain Winchestor has striven to maintain a good working relationship with the Chief Tactical Officer. For small scope operations the CO and CTO often come to agreements on what the role of the marines will be on any given operation, bypassing the liason and OPS-O.

The local contingent of Marines aboard the USS Endeavor is currently commanded by 1st Lt Henely consists of one platoon divided into four squads. A Platoon Sgt assists the CTO with leading the four squads, each of which has a Sgt to command it. Each squad generally consists of twelve soldiers made up of Corporals and Privates.

Specialty Units

On occasion the Marines form into small recon units. In this situation ranks are normally supressed and replaced with Specialist and Senior Specialist. This is designed to remove them from the Chain of Command. These recon teams are usually composed of a trooper assigned to Demolition, Survailence, Code Breaker, Field Medic, Survival and Sniper. All team members are experts in marksmanship, tactical training, and security force training.
