Polish Student Club Constitution (Academic Year 2000 - 2001)

NAME:
The name of the organization shall be the Polish Student Club of National-Louis University.
PURPOSE:
The purpose and objectives of this organization shell be:
  • Provide academic and social support to new and existing Polish students
  • Promote the diverse Polish culture to the NLU Chicago Campus community
  • Inform Polish students of the variety of services and organizations targeted for Polish Speaking people in the Chicago area
  • Represent Polish student interests in all aspects of University life
  • Encourage academic excellence among Polish students and recognize those who have demonstrated superior academic performance
  • Promote greater recognition of NLU programs in the Polish community of Chicago and beyond
  • Help to achieve better recruitment and retention of Polish students and NLU
  • Cooperate with other Polish Student clubs from Universities from Chicago area
MEMBERSHIP:
Any student in good academic standing at National-Louis University may become a member of the Polish Student Club with voting and office holding privileges. The standards for qualification and the amount of dues to be paid if any shall be determined by the organization from time to time. All members must be registered with the club.
ELECTION:
Election of the officers shall take place yearly during the fourth week of May. The Executive Committee shall appoint a nominating committee consisting of students, preferably more experienced students from the membership.
DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS:
The duties of all officers shall be to attend all meetings and serve on committees as appointed by the president.

Specific duties of each officer are as follows:

  • President shall preside at all meetings. Call special meetings when necessary. Appoint officers to serve on committees to prepare an agenda for every meeting.

  • Vice-President shall preside at meeting in the event of the president's absence. She/he shall success the president in the event of his/her resignation or inability to serve and to make the technical arrangements needed for each meeting; be responsible for e-mail and members records.

  • Secretary shall keep record and distribute meeting minutes to each member, be responsible for club board and correspondence except e-mail.

  • Treasurer shall keep a current record of Polish Student Club work fund, make a statement of the account to government for any needed student activity funds.
MEETING AND QUORUM:
Meeting will be held at least twice a quarter and should consist of all past, current, and upcoming events, and activiteis.
A quorum shall be a simple majority of all voting members present.
REMOVEMENT AND REPLACEMENT OF OFFICERS:
Any officer of Polish Club who is not performing his/her duties may be removed via a quorum approval. The Charges against the officer under considerations of removeal shall be heard by the members at a meeting with the officer in question present. The officere shall be given an opportunity to respond to the charges. Voting will take place by written ballot. In the case that the president is removed from the office, the Vice-President shall assume the office of president, she/he then will appoint a new vice-president with a quorum approval. In the case that any of the other officers are removed from their vacancy with quorum approval.
