Marlboro Ranch Party 2003 |
Day 3 - May 31, 2003 Well, morning came WAY too early, and needless to say Shelly and I had hangovers BAD! Today we were to go on the 4x4 Jeep Tour, and then desert hiking later. I felt HORRIBLE, and truly thought I was going to have to cancel out on everything. I just wanted to lie down somewhere and go to sleep. But, we made it to breakfast, I had fried up eggs, which are like overeasy, but not that done, sausage (which I didn't eat), hashbrowns, and 2 pieces of toast. I ate like a bird, but knew the toast would help soak up some of that alcohol still in my system. The ride to the Jeep Tour was short, but we got to see a lot of the desert. When we got to the tour, they had plenty of Jeeps ready for us to fill up. Carl was our Jeep driver, and he was GREAT! He was full of information also! It's really amazing what all these people know!!! He talked about all the different kinds of cactus, the state tree, state catcus, state bird, etc. He also talked alot about the Indians, and later gave a speech about Indians to the whole group. We stopped and saw where African Killer Bees were burrowing, just long enough to take some pictures. Carl said they have no idea why they are burrowing there, as this is the first year they have done so. So we just left them be! That was the LAST thing I wanted to get stung by! hehee! We stopped at a giant cactus, where one of the tour guides talked about it, and it's fruit and the way it tastes. They brought around the Prickly Pear for each of us to taste. It tasted sort of like pickles...but not exactly. I used my Platypus this day, as I was so dehydrated, and couldn't get enough water. I think the temperature got up to 108 degrees this day, and I felt every single bit of it. For lunch we had Cowboy Cow Pie (like pot pie), and chicken fajitas. Oh man it was SOOO good! I was FULL and ready for a nap by the time we were finished. Shelly and I split dessert, which was brownie with icecream on it. Oh man it was GOOD!! We were supposed to meet Tracy and Stacey and everyone else at the pool then after we went to the gift shop. We even made it to the pool gate, but, us being such blondes, couldn't figure out how to open the gate! So instead of looking stupid, we just went back to our room and laid out on our patio. After that we went to the Team Cattle Penning that was going on in the rodeo arena. That was SO fun to watch!!! They did a GREAT job!!! (I know I'm getting the chronological order a little messed up, so help me out to those who were there). Finally I couldn't take the heat any more, so Chris showed us how to get in the pool, after I confessed how blonde Shelly and I were! hahaha! The pool was just what we needed! The water was warm, but why wouldn't it be with the temps being sooo high?! The others in the pool got a good game of volleyball going on, and I snapped a picture, but haven't scanned it in yet. I've got TONS of pictures that still need scanned. When we got out of the pool, it was soo chilly! haha! Who would've thought?! At 4:00 we went to the bar to help with our hangovers. 2 drinks later and I felt A LOT better!!! I had a full body massage scheduled for 4:30, since we of course cancelled out on the desert hike. This was my first ever massage, and oh my gosh was it ever wonderful!!! I have never been so relaxed in all my life. WOW!!! Shelly's massage was scheduled at 5:15, after my 45 minute massage. And while I had mine she went and laid out on our patio. I did the same while she had hers. We started packing our things up, as we were to leave the Ranch at 9:00am, but have our luggage outside on our patio at 8:00am. I couldn't believe tomorrow morning we would already be leaving!!! They had put on our beds the group picture in a beautiful pewter frame. They also gave us a leather photo album to put all of our pictures in, and a matching leather address book so we could get all of our new friends contact information. We had our last round up, and then headed to dinner. Tonight we had an Indian oven dinner. It slow-cooked ALL day. It was prime rib, and veggies, with homemade bread. It was spectacular!! I was still full from all the other food we ate those, it was very hard to find room! haha! But I did! Then there was a HUGE party out on the patio!! It was awesome! Live band that was great, drinks -- yet again, and everyone just having an awesome time before we all left in the morning. Some did the limbo, and a lot of the Ranch workers, and the Marlboro Staff came out and got down with us all! It was great to have everyone out and having a great time!!!! The evening ended well, and we all hated going to bed -- knowing we would have to wake early to get ready to leave. |
