Simcha Preparation

MISCELLANEOUS TIPS

  1. hire or ask someone to "house sit" in your apartment the night of the wedding, in order to eliminate the chances of "unwanted company", chas v'shalom. As a precautionary measure- don't hang up your wedding invitation on the entrance door of your building where it will be public knowledge. Instead, givr each neighbor an individual invitation
  2. It is wise to review the entire wedding with someone other tha the immediate family members, so that this designated person is available to help "move things along" during the tenaim, chuppa, and meal.
  3. Don't forget to put the benchers on each table- preferably before the meal so you shouldn't forget!
  4. Should you choose to make a seating plan , here are a few pointers to follow:
    • Place guests at a table with at least one other person they know,in order for them to feel comfortable.
    • After receiving responses, make a master list of those attending. Make another list of those who responded that they are not attending.
    • For seperate seating make a master list of men and master list of women who are attending.
    • Find out layout of hall- ie: how many tables, how many people at each table, where band will be situated.
    • Make alphabetical list of all guests and their table number.
    • Write out the seating cards... Do not wait till last minute to do this
** If you choose not to have a seating plan, make a master list of all guests invited. As you are informed about who will and who will not be able to attend, create a new alphabetizedlist of all those who will be attending.( This wll give you a better ideaof what to tell the caterer, and also gives you a 'keepsake' to know who was in attendance at your simcha!
