Training Philosophy |
Here at POPLAR RIDGE we believe that all dogs are individuals. No two are ever exactly the same. That individuality must be catered to in a training environment. For started gun dog work we have only a few requirements: 1.) they like to retrieve 2.) they like birds 3.) they like water 4.) they are willing to work 5.) they are not afraid of gun fire Notice in the above requirements that the dog liking what he is doing is of utmost importance to us. We want to have the dog happy and willing to do his work. If a dog is lacking in any one of these requirements he will not make our Started program and will be sent home after the first month's evaluation period. We do not believe that anyone should have months of training in a dog that is not going to be worth hunting with. The dogs set their own limits with their training attitudes and talent levels. That is why we have a “Program” for Started dogs. There is one price for the “PROGRAM” and if it goes over the usual 4 month period you are not charged for any additional training. We also have an obedience “program” one price for 6 to 8 weeks of training. It is the dog that determines how long it takes. Advanced training is based on a monthly fee. |
