ANNUAL RADIO TELETHON TO BENEFIT CCA

The 2009 Children's Cancer Association (CCA) Phone Drive was a big success, raising $215,000 for the charity.  Eight Tri Deltas from our alumnae chapter participated, answering phones at 105.1 The Buzz Radio Station on Feb. 5, 2009. Thanks for your contribution, ladies.
PHILANTHROPIC EFFORTS:

An important part of our alumnae membership is philanthropy, with a continuing focus on children's charities. For the past several years, we've raised monies for the Portland Children's Cancer Association (CCA).  We also host a holiday toy drive that benefits CCA and a book drive for the Oregon Burn Center, as well as other special events throughout the year.

If you are interested in helping our philanthropy committee, please contact Carrie Christiansen at carrie_christiansen@hotmail.com.

OTHER PHILANTHROPY NEWS...
  • CHEMO PALS - Be a Chemo Pal and offer companionship to children in treatment.  The Chemo Pal Mentor Program for children and teens breaks through the isolation, chaos and loneliness of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments by providing trusted, dependable, and carefully matched mentors.  These mentors visit hospitals, clinics and homes to play games, take walks, read, do art projects or share hobbies.  While this program focuses on children and teens, it also gives parents a much needed respite from the rigors of the cancer treatments, and enables them to grab a cup of coffee, take a walk, nap or spend time with their other children.  Do you or someone you know need a Chemo Pal?  Contact Program Director Stephanie Matson by e-mail at smatson@e-cca.org.

  • TRI DELTA FOUNDATION - If you know a sister in need, the Tri Delta Foundation offers emergency financial assistance through the Crescent Fund.  Celebrating it's 20th year, the Foundation has granted more than $5.5 million in aid to Tri Deltas for emergencies, scholarships, and educational/leadership programming.  All applications for aid are confidential.  To make a donation or give a Star Tree e-card, visit www.tridelta.org.
