Democrats.com, the first online community for all us 100 million Democrats, has sent out an urgent appeal for funds to help the with the lawsuit against GOP absentee ballot tampering in Seminole County. In Florida, this kind of nonsense is a felony - - and rightly so. If the legal precedents are followed, a victory in this vital case should cause thousands of absentee ballots to be disqualified, handing Al Gore the Presidency.

Democrats.com is in urgent need of funds to launch and manage a public relations campaign on behalf of this lawsuit, filed by Harry Jacobs, an Orlando-area attorney.

Whoa... seems like that happened in a previous decade, doesn’t it? But it was LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS AGO. In less than four months we have devolved from a "regular" Presidential campaign to a looming Constitutional crisis that could end with America becoming a hereditary fascist dictatorship.

The conventional wisdom is that the economy is going to crash soon. The conventional wisdom is that the next President will be unable to get one item of their agenda through a deeply divided Congress and will be dumped on their backsides in 2004. Big time. The conventional wisdom is that America is getting fed up with Gore for dragging this stupid election out. Why didn’t he just quit at the beginning? Why doesn’t he just dump this mess on Smirk so Gore can be a shining white knight in 2004?

Gore, Bush supporters rally in New York City

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Thousands of Al Gore supporters gathered in the cold in Times Square during Thursday's evening rush hour to protest the presidential vote in Florida and endorse the vice president's legal challenge.

A smaller group of Republican George W. Bush supporters gathered a few blocks down, chanting "President Bush."

The Democratic rally was sponsored by the Rev. Jesse Jackson and attracted numerous Democratic, labor and civil rights officials, including AFL-CIO President John Sweeney. Speakers included actress Ally Sheedy, movie executive Harvey Weinstein and Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-New York.

A video message was sent by Barbra Streisand. The main speaker however, was Jackson, who took the microphone and declared, "Al Gore has won the election."

"We rally tonight, for our vote to count, because our vote matters, because we matter and democracy matters," he added.

The crowd braved the cold to stand and listen for close to two hours. Several held red, white and blue signs that read, "Democracy ambushed in Florida."

At the Bush rally, Bryan Ali offered another view. "Gore is holding America hostage," Ali said.

Gore is contesting election results that declared Bush the winner by a 537-vote margin in Florida.



Okay Possums, CNN says the Bush group is "smaller" than the Gore group. CNN says the Gore group has "thousands" in it. How many Bush supporters were at the Bush counter-demonstration?

If you guessed "d", you’re right. Everybody who has been out on the protest lines these past weekends: did you have more than "a few dozen" pro-Gore demonstrators? Were you outnumbered by Rent-A-Nazis, who disappear the same time every weekend, like clockwork? Did the media bother to show up? Did the media interview both sides? If they did, did they make it sound like two groups that were basically the same size? Did they make it sound like you had a valid point? Did they give you the last word?
