TIME MAGAZINE IS SO ON MY LIST

Got a problem with Time Magazine naming a coke snortin', draft dodgin', Granny killer for Christ as their "Man" of the Year? Especially one who just disenfranchised over 50 million Americans via his fascist coup? Why don't you tell them what you think of their choice? If you want to write them via snail mail, try this:

I can see I’m going to have to repeat and repeat and repeat myself for pretty much the next four years. Despite the fact that every Real Person in Middle America knows Al Gore is the only Democrat who can win the Presidency in 2004, the Corporate Media Chihuahuas are determined to parrot the GOP spin that Al Gore is box office poison. Below, in green, is me being a long winded jerk in response to someone being reckless enough to post an email titled "Gore Is A Loser" on one of the eight billion Democratic activist email lists that was dumb enough to accept my subscription. Enjoy!

I gotta say that I wish both Daschle and Gephardt luck and IF either of them (or someone else) wins the Democratic nomination in 2004, I will support them, but Al Gore is my candidate. I'm going to work for him 24/7 for the next four years. Because, among other reasons, he won the 2000 election. Gore is a winner.

Gore won the popular vote with over 50 million votes.
Gore won over 1/2 million votes more than Bush.
Gore won the second largest number of votes in U.S. history.
Gore won more votes than any other Democratic Presidential nominee.
Gore won more votes than any other first time Presidential candidate.
Gore won more votes than any other Vice President running for President.
Gore won this "close" Presidential election by the largest popular vote margin in any "close" Presidential election in U.S. history.
All the mathematical models prove that Gore won Florida.

Factor into this that Gore accepted campaign spending limits and refused PAC money. Bush refused campaign spending limits and accepted PAC money. Bush massively outspent Gore; Bush's last admitted spending total is $151 million. Gore ran on the issues and refused to attack Bush personally. Bush refused to run on the issues and ran a campaign of viscous, personal attacks against Gore.

Still, Gore won the popular vote by over 1/2 million votes.

Daschle and Gephardt may "seem" more committed to progressive causes, but they only represent part of one state. Gore has spent the last eight years representing the nation, and the nation is much more conservative than we'd like to admit. According to the CNN election night exit polls, Gore's positions were "too liberal" for 43% of the voters. (And if you believe that the folks who didn't vote are waiting for a more liberal alternative, why did Nader only get 3% of the popular vote? He got a LOT of national press, especially in the last weeks of the campaign -- almost all of it positive.)

Also, Gephardt and Daschle may "seem" to be more relaxed campaigners, but then again, they haven't spent six years being investigated within an inch of their lives by impeachment hungry Nazis like Delay and Lott, they haven't had every word they ever said parsed and slid under a microscope and bent out of shape until it could be twisted into a "Gore lie". They haven't had every breath they've taken dissected and ridiculed by the national media. Imagine living through this: Gore's reputation used to be that he was so honest, such a devoted family man, such a deeply religious person, that he was the most boring man on the planet. Suddenly he was being successfully smeared as a liar, a panderer, and a mentally unbalanced egomaniac. Gore took his case to the press, but they only distorted everything that he said in his own defense -- when they bothered to listen in the first place. (Reporters were bragging IN PRINT about not covering him, writing their stories ahead of time, playing foosball rather than paying attention to his major policy speeches, hissing him during his primary debates against Bradley, etc.) And at the same time, Smirk was getting a totally free ride from the same media. They intentionally ignored his criminal record, his alcoholism, his rumored drug use, his rumored SEC violations, his being AWOL during the Vietnam war... we all know the list, it's endless.

You can say that's Gore's fault, for not being "likable" enough for the media, but the media thought Smirk was the "likable" one. Do you really want the media deciding who's cool enough to be President, rather than reporting the facts and letting us decide who is most qualified for the job? (And I have to say for myself, I like Gore's personality. And I know I'm far from alone on this.)

I think Gore overcame incredible obstacles in this election. I am not abandoning him for anybody else. I stick with the winners.

Dump him in 2004 if you want. That's what the GOP is praying we'll do.

The Free People Of The United States
Salute The Heroic Actions of Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA)!

Unlike certain two faced, hypocritical members of the Democratic House leadership who care more about lining their own pockets than they do about justice and who shall remain nameless, Senator Boxer came out with the folowing statement on December 13th:
Statement of U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer
on the Supreme Court Decision
in the Case of Bush v. Gore and its Aftermath
December 13, 2000

I am heartbroken that the Supreme Court has issued an opinion that, to me, undermines a core democratic principle -- that every vote counts and every vote must be counted.

I am also perplexed that the Court sent the case back to the Florida Supreme Court for further proceedings on the recount, since it did so while also suggesting that time had run out for the recount. That suggestion is disingenuous, considering that the U.S. Supreme Court itself helped cause the clock to run out when it voted 5-4 to stop the recount last Saturday by issuing a stay.

I want to compliment the four justices who voted against the stay order-- Justices Stevens, Souter, Breyer and Ginsberg -- two appointed by Republican presidents and two by a Democrat. While several of them recognized constitutional problems in the way the recount was being carried out, they clearly understood the overriding importance of counting every legal vote.

In his dissenting opinion, Justice John Paul Stevens pointed out that the Florida Supreme Court, in ordering the recount, merely "...did what courts do -- it decided the case before it in light of the legislature's intent to leave no legally cast vote uncounted."

He stated that in its action "the majority effectively orders the disenfranchisement of an unknown number of voters whose ballots reveal their intent - and are therefore legal votes under state law - but were for some reason rejected by ballot-counting machines."

The closing words of Justice Stevens, I believe, will go down in history as the thoughts of a great Supreme Court justice:
Although we may never know with complete certainty the identity of the winner of this presidential election, the identity of the loser is perfectly clear. It is the Nation's confidence in the judge as an impartial guardian of the rule of law.
When the next president is sworn into office in January, I pledge to do all that I can to help the country put this extraordinary and unsettling election behind us. I will do my best in the United States Senate to advance the interests of the people of California, who have so many needs and rights that remain to be addressed.

There are many lessons to be learned from these events. We need to change our election procedures to make them uniformly as reliable and accurate as possible, so that we will never again be in this situation. And more Americans must now realize that their participation in the political process is vitally important. I will work on these challenges in the coming months, for the sake of Californians and for all Americans.

Senator Boxer, the free people of the United States salute you for standing up to fascist supression of our basic civil rights! Email Senator Boxer and thank her personally for standing up to the Supreme Court's tyranny!

THE CARIBOU ARE SENDING OUT AN URGENT S.O.S!!
THE ARTIC NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE IS IN TROUBLE! BIG TIME!

Satan says "I can smell the kickbacks already! Screw the caribou! Let’s drill!"
Just because Smirk’s Rent-a-brains STOLE the election with the help of American’s favorite unindited coconspirators, the Scalia Five, doesn’t mean we have to abandon Al’s excellent agenda. Did 50 million of us go Gore just because he was the most qualified person to EVER run for President, running on the issues against a GOP character-assassination-fest, playing by the rules while team Smirk kneecapped Democracy to the delight of all the corporate media chihuahuas, who rolled around in the stinking gutter, degrading our electoral process like no electoral process has ever been degraded before???

Well, okay... yeah, we did.

But that's not stopping Team Smirk from setting their sights on the Artic National Wildlife Refuge - - home to incredibly fragile caribou breeding grounds - - and the humans who depend on the caribou herd for their lives!

We at the Flapdoodle say – not so fast, Snippy! Email President Clinton (remember him?) and DEMAND he save the caribou from the clutches of Smirk and Company! DEMAND he designate the coastal plain of the Artic National Wildlife Refuge a National Monument!

And while you're at it, ask your Democratic Senators and Representatives to get off their donkey and lobby Clinton to save the caribou!
