Correct! Al may have been a Senator’s son, but his dad was determined that he understand what the real world was like and worked him like a mule on the family farm. After that, he had a string of non-work-cushy experiences, starting with volunteering for Vietnam, and then working five years as a professional journalist. (This was way back in the day, when journalists actually had to "do research" and "check their facts" or they’d loose their jobs.) While working as a reporter, he took classes at Divinity School and Law School. Finally there was all that "non-work" in the Congress, the Senate and as Vice President.

You don’t hear this one repeated by the press as often as the others, do you?
You don’t suppose it’s because most of Gore’s "non-work" was as a journalist, do you?
