PRAIRIE HEARTS QUILTERS'
CANCER AND COMFORT QUILTS
Comfort Quilts
Our guild makes comfort quilts for children that are terminally ill or have suffered a sudden illness or disaster in our city. These quilts are made using the Bull's Eye pattern, String Pieced, Ragged Hearts or a design of individual's choosing.
In the late fall of 2002 the guild set up a schedule for working on these comfort quilts.  From the Fall 2002 until Fall 2007 we held regular meetings for working on the comfort quilts at The Quilt Patch.  Starting Fall 2007 we have a new location, which is St. Michael's School.  Everyone is
WELCOME to come and help.  Check for dates on the Guild Meeting page. No special skills are required just bring your favorite sewing scissors.  Just sit at one of the sewing machines and sew straight strips or round circles, or trim away the background, or press, or square up, or assemble blocks take your pick.  All hands are appreciated.
This is some of the guild ladies who regularly work on the comfort quilts with the owners of The Quilt Patch who recieved a plaque thanking them for the use of the classroom.
Examples of Comfort Quilts we make
Our guild Cancer Quilt Committee has finished our seventh cancer quilt which is a gorgous quilt..  It is queen sized and made of 100% cotton fabrics which is machine pieced and hand quilted. Our quilt will be shipped off to Ontario to be auctioned off with the money raised coming back to the Saskatchewan Cancer Society.  Our sixth cancer quilt was auctioned off in Nov 2007 and was named Quilter's Garden.
