History Made: A Trade!
[07.26.02]
History was made in Puck's World Fantasy Footbal in the late hours of July 26th. After three years, a trade has been completed in this league. Kalamazoo Vikings and Wisconsin Wannabes came to terms which sends Wisconsin's #4 draft pick to Kalamazoo for Denver Quarterback Brian Griese. Griese ranked 5th in the league at the quarterback position in 2001 while playing for the Green Bay Fudgepackers. Kalamazoo acquired Griese off waivers near the end of last season in an attempt at keeping Seattle from acquiring a highly ranked quarterback. Wisconsin, was in need of a good backup to Favre and with drafting so late, she was worried that one may not be available. Wisconsin has also been rumored to be floating Griese for trade bait to a team looking for a good quarterback. Wisconsin has waived Terence Mathis to keep their roster at twenty players.
Vikings Secure Playoff Spot
The Kalamazoo Vikings have had a wild ride this season. After starting 1-2 and near the bottom of the league, the Vikings are riding an eight game winning streak and have the best record so far this season.
Draft 2000 Was a Success
General Manager Puck released a statement recently stating that Kalamazoo drafted everyone that was in their scopes. Even with the 52nd pick in the draft as their first pick this year, Kalamazoo was able to acquire Daunte Culpepper of Minnesota and the hot rookie kicker Sebastian Janikowski of Oakland, along with some other younger players with bright futures. "These young players will give us the ability to compete at a high level for years to come"
Seattle Upsets Kalamazoo In Puck Bowl I
Lead by Jabin Q. the Seattle Slimy Slugs (9-4-0) pulled out a surprising victory over the regular season leading Kalamazoo Vikings (12-1-0) 131 to 87. Seattle had a huge day from both M. Faulk (30pts) and B. Johnson (25pts) while only one player of Kalamazoo could muster more than 20 points.
The Seattle Slimy Slugs become the first champions of the newly formed Puck's World Fantasy Football League.
