New Electric War
Our very first gig as a band! And what an experience it was! We had a totally different line up back then consisting of:
Ian Ryan (Vocals)
Denis O' Gorman (Bass) (but played by a guitar!)
Enda Buckley (Guitar)
Dean Herlihy (Drums) (who had no real training or experience playing drums, this was his first time playing them!)
Stephen was actually in New Electric War at that stage! Friends from Da Gang (including Frank) turned up for support which was greatly appreciated.
New Electric War, who consisted of Ricky O' Connell (Guitar, Vocals), Anthony Roche (Guitar), Mark Higgins (Guitar/Bass) & Stephen Rea (Drums) were up first playing their 2 songs 'Less Than Ten Minutes' and 'I Wanna Get Made'. They got a nice feedback from the audience, it was their first gig too so they were pretty much as nervous as we were.
Then it was time for Purgatory, we were really shitting it at this stage. Our set was short, 2 songs, 'Hope' and 'Forlorn', just like NEW's and it was enough to get good feedback from the audience. We were thrilled. One of the best experieces of performing on stage! Much thanks to the help of Ger Fitzgibbon for giving us the chance to play our music for the first time to an audience.
