29/01/06 Blastbeat gig changed
Purgatwa weren't able to play the Blastbeat Battle of the Bands gig in Mallow but instead they will play the 'Frequency Music Battle Of The Bands' competition in the Half Moon Theatre in Cork on the 12th of February 2006 along with Mimic, In Pieces, Windfall, Jacks Faith, and The Impressionists. One band gets through to the regional final. Oh yeah, Congrats to Is Risen on getting through to the regional final from the Battle Of The Bands gig in Mallow on the 21st.
22/12/05 Underground Sounds venue change + Blastbeat contest
The Underground Sounds gig that was scheduled to be in The Lodge in Ballyhea has now been relocated to the Community Hall in Charleville, same date remains, the 23th of December. There has been a slight change with regard to the bands who are playing. The line-up is as follows: Eternal Servitude, Requiem, Psychotic Episode, Death By Snoo Snoo, Is Risen, then us. Just to let you know. Sorry, sorry on such short notice, I couldn't get this fecking website to work for me, finally has now. Also, Purgatory has been entered into the BlastBeat Battle of The Bands competition and will play a gig on the 21st of January in the Central in Mallow along with 4 (or 5 I think) other bands. 2 bands will qualify to the next heat which will be held in The Half Moon (I think). Then from that round 2 more bands will qualify to the national final which will be held in The Helix in Dublin. The winner of this final will receive a record deal worth €5000. Nice. 15/11/05 Underground Sounds Christmas gig in the Lodge
Another Underground Sounds gig is in the works for December. The assigned date is the 23th of December and is to be held in The Lodge in Ballyhea. The bands scheduled to play are us, Drunken Leper, Death By Snoo Snoo, Is Risen, Requiem, Psychotic Episode and Eternal Servitude.

Purgatory play the next Blast in the Half Moon Theatre in Cork City on the 27th of November along with Sirocco (one of the best metal bands I've seen in Ireland) and other acts to be announced.
02/11/05 'You're A Star' news
Yo. Well we gave 'You're A Star' a try but didn't get through. The panel of celebrity judges were Linda Martin (didn't say much, not a great critic of the music in my opinion), Brendan O' Connor (very sound, down to earth, and of course from Cork City bai) and MuchMusic representative Thomas Black (Black as his heart). The song we performed to them was 'What Could Have Been' and it clearly wasn't the material they were looking for. The 'You're A Star' competition is pitched to the television audience as a means of entertainment so the judges remarks are also for the benefit of entertaining the masses i.e. The judges remarks and comments are NOT a true appraisal of the performer. Brendan O' Connor remarked that 'Purgatory' were a very young band and did well to get to the top twenty bands in Ireland for the competition. So that's that.
28/10/05 'You're A Star' update + a gig in the Triskel Arts Centre
Right, here's the lowdown on 'You're A Star'. Our slot time is at approx. 5:45pm. We're the last band to audition. We've got fifteen minutes in there with the judges. The judges will then decide what bands have made it through to the next round at around 6pm. 9 bands will qualify out of 20. And if we don't get through.. ah sure that's the way it is. Purgatory also have a gig on Sunday the 13th of November in the Triskel Arts Centre. Other acts include Mundicide and Sylvia Saint.
28/10/05 Underground Sounds gig cancelled
'Tis unlikely that we will play the Underground Sounds gig in Bruree with the 'You're A Star' audition the very next day. Ah well, we owe ya one. Frank's bio is up. Check it out.
20/10/05 Purgatory to audition for 'You're A Star'
S'up. Purgatory has been shortlisted to one of twenty bands that will audition for 'You're A Star' on the 30th of October. Now How about that!?? The audition will take place in 'The Digital Exchange', Thomas St., Dublin. For more info go to 'www.rte.ie/tv/yaswanted/'. I still have to get more details on the whole thing so i will update ye all when I get more info.
19/10/05 Purgatory to play at 'Underground Sounds' in Bruree.
Another 'Underground Sounds' is to be held on in De Valera Hall in Bruree on the 29th of October. This is the first time the Underground Sounds concert will be held in a location outside of Charleville. Purgatory are on the bill along with Pat O' Sullivan, Is Risen, Death By Snoo Snoo, Psychotic Episode and Blind Christ. The gig starts at 7:00pm. Check out the poster here for more details.
17/09/05 Gig in a green pub, and some little updates
Purgatory was invited to play at a gig in a green pub that went something by the name of 'CubaBoola' (The name of the pub was hard to read) today in Cork city. Twas great! Check out the new photos available to gawk at in the media section. Bios and music should be up within the next few days.
