Berge's Editorial Cartoons

Welcome to my editorial cartoon site. Glad you could drop by! Geocities is going the way of 8 track tapes and Look magazine on October 26. Those ads on the right weren't pulling in enough revenue for the yahoos at Yahoo! (They're also making me sign in every other screen. This just isn't a friendly neighborhood any more.) I will continue to post my cartoons on the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists web site, and I'm setting up a blog site. Geocities was fun while it lasted, but this site will disappear.

Radio Bla Blah

"This president is not just an ordinary president. He's one of the most gifted speakers that the world has ever seen. He's gifted, he's charismatic and when he speaks he speaks with tremendous authority and great conviction and with tremendous persuasion. And it's one thing for him to talk to adult who have the ability, maybe, to discern between right or wrong or whether they agree or disagree. The challenge becomes for parents when he talks to their kids without them present, he's so persuasive, he's campaigning almost for the hearts and minds of the kids. Now, today's speech was fine. What he said was something that almost everyone can agree with. But what moms and dads are afraid of is that what happens when kids who can't distinguish like moms or dads can when the Defense of Marriage is repealed or the act comes up to be repealed, and the President says--"
--Joe Watkins, on Dr. Nancy Sniderman's MSNBC program September 7, 2009, adding homophobia to the Hysterical Right's objections to President Obama telling schoolchildren to study hard and stay in school (unless they have swine flu).

Boilerplate legal stuff: Please note that all cartoons on these pages are copyrighted either by me, or by the publications which printed them, or by the syndicate/s which distributed them. They may not be reproduced without permission of the particular copyright holder. Contact me by changing the "AT" to "@" in the address in this link. There, we've got all that out of the way, and I feel so much better.

About the Cartoonist

I began drawing LGBT-themed political cartoons on a regular basis since 1993, first for Gaze Magazine (Minneapolis), then for In Step News (Milwaukee). Since 1996, my cartoons have been syndicated to some 20 publications across the US and Puerto Rico and even South Africa through Q Syndicate. (See five of my Q Syndicate cartoons not posted on this site by clicking here.

I've also drawn cartoons for, or had them reprinted in, the Los Angeles Times, Out magazine, Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year, the Racine, Wisconsin Journal Times, Vanguard, Quayle Quarterly, Wisconsin Reasearch Center for Pluralism Report, In Brief (Bridgehampton, NY), Moneyed Politicians Weblog, Manitou Messenger, Iconoplastic magazine, Northcountry Journal, the UWM Post, UWP Ranger, and the UWSP Pointer.
