BIG NEWS!!!

It's happening. A Quantum Leap movie being made may just become reality within the next few weeks! Dean Stockwell is guest-starring on "Enterprise" (SEE MORE HERE).

The biggest news came from Ziggy_the_ego, when he posted the following on his Quantum Leaping site:

21st March 2002

Yet again the rumours are circulating that Universal Studios is again interested in a Quantum Leap Reunion movie for either television or the big screen. So far Universal have not commented on this latest development. I received the news from a reliable source so I decided to go ahead and post it on my site.

The first step of the revival idea was to team Dean Stockwell up with Scott Bakula in a guest role in the new Star Trek: Enterprise. The episode name is 'Detained' and is expected to air on UPN sometime in April. Dean shot this episode around the sad time of the death of his brother, Guy, who onced guest starred in Quantum Leap. Universal are going to gauge the reactions of the audience of this episode. If the feedback UPN gets from this is good, then Universal is going to start talks with Dean, Scott and Donald, who are all believed to be behind the project.

It is not unknown yet as to what format this revival will take form in, but it is expected that there will be several leaps within the film, which will conclude with the FINAL leap. Who knows if this means that Dr. Beckett will get home. I suspect if this film gets the go ahead and the final leap takes place that somehow Donald will find some way to leave it open for a follow on movie, just like he did with Mirror Image.

"It's been a long road, gettin' from there to here..."

These are the words hears by millions of people every Wednesday night when an episode of "Enterprise" airs on TV. But now, these words have real meaning for any Leapers watching....

It has been nine years since the last episode of "Quantum Leap" aired on NBC. The ending was completely unsatisfactory for most Leapers, and they (and us newer fans) have been waiting since then to see a "Quantum Leap" movie be developed... a movie that would answer all of our questions and bring Sam home.

But Universal Studios never showed much interest in the revival of "Quantum Leap". Their last known attempt at getting a "revival" going was in November 1999, when they announced the development of a "Quantum Leap" project entitled "Quantum Leapers". However, it was not going to involve Scott Bakula in any way. Thankfully, it was canned.

But now, just a little over two years later, we have finally received the news we've been waiting for for so long: Universal is currently "exploring" the idea of making a "Quantum Leap" reunion movie! This news came in the form of a small paragraph on TV Guide Online's In The News page on Thursday, January 24, 2002.

Apparently, Scott Bakula's new-found fame in "Enterprise" has caught the attention of TPTB over at Universal, and is partly the reason for their consideration of a "Quantum Leap" revival.

Now is the time to send letters to Universal to convince them that a "Quantum Leap" reunion is a good idea. Enforce WHY it's a good idea: audience is made up of age group networks prize, Bakula is once again in the spotlight, "Quantum Leap" is now being brought to the attention of the general public, the ratings would be high due to not only Leapers, but also Trekkies watching....

Also stress that the only way this revival can work is to have Scott and Dean starring as Sam and Al, and Don Bellisario writing and producing.

Head on over to the addresses page to get the most up-to-date info on where to send your letters.
