I have long wanted this bike ever since I read some old magazine articles on this bike. Only 1107 of these bikes were manufactured by Harley Davidson in 1983 right after the MoCo bought back the company from AMF. Designed around the XR750 racing bike by Dick O'Brien of HD racing fame, the bike was finished in just about 90 days. Scott Parker and Jay Springsteen (not the singer) went on to win numerous AMA dirt track championships for Harley Davidson using the race version of this bike. My XR1000 has only about 2,500 miles on it and is in near perfect condition. The 1000 cc engine, rated at 95 hp, has Jerry Branch heads, each hand ported, dual Del Orto carbs and the unmistable Dual left side megaphone exhaust. The bike has no dings or dents and is totally original in paint. The machining for the XR1000 is such that this engine uses no cylinder head gasket!

The motor company only made 1107 XR1000s based on what information I could find. This one has been restored from the above picture to include the original black handlebars and black mirrors. The seat is not original or the singlel fire ignition or the mirrors, but all other items are bone stock. |

1983 XR1000 Dual Del Orto carbs, XR1000 heads by Jerry Branch, dual left side exhaust system and a heck of a lot of fun to ride. I don't ride this a whole lot and it only has approximately 2,500 miles on it. |
